1988 Fiero Coupe With 350 Chevy Motor on 2040-cars
Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States
This is the perfect little sports car that is as quick as most Super Cars but much less expensive. The motor is a professionally built 357 cubic inch Chevy with Aluminum Vortec heads and Holley carburetor on a Edelbrock Performer manifold. Valve action is by hydraulic roller cam from CompCams (dimensions on request) and roller rockers. This motor has less than 300 miles since built. Exhaust is custom built and high temperature barrier coated. 2 individual banks are routed to mufflers with SuperTrapp tunable ends. Transmission is a modified 4T60E electric 4 speed overdrive controlled by a PSC programmable module. Transmission also has less than 300 miles since built. Just about all facets of transmission control are changeable- including addition of paddle/button shifting. The car rides on aftermarket Corvette look alike 17" wheels with high performance tires. The tires have been sitting for a while and probably need to be changed. Lowering springs in the front and Coil Overs in the rear add to the stance. The air conditioner runs very cold and is charged with Hot Shot which replaces R12. Battery has been moved to the front and is a new Optima Red Top. Dash gauges are custom flame jobs and fascias are refinished in crinkle. A larger brake booster has been installed. New dew wipes are being installed at this time. Vents have been installed in hood to vent trapped air at speed. A carbon fiber cover has been added to the rear lid to allow for carb clearance. The car has the minor blemishes you find on cars that are driven but there are no major items.
This car drives extremely well in normal mode but is instantly transformed to 'animal' status with the addition more throttle. |

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi
Sat, Jun 19 2021The General's Pontiac Division sold Bonnevilles from 1958 through 2005, which turned out to be well over half of the marque's existence. Named after the Bonneville Salt Flats, some Bonnevilles were huge but pretty quick, others were slow-motion land yachts, and some were nearly indistinguishable from their Buick and Oldsmobile brethren. The final generation, sold for the 2000 through 2005 model years, were among the quickest and most distinctive-looking Bonnevilles ever built, but they arrived in showrooms at a time when the clock was ticking for the division's very survival. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those cars, an '01 with the hot-rod SSEi package. The Bonneville SSEi first appeared in the 1992 model year, just a year after the Buick Park Avenue Ultra was the first of many GM cars to get the 3.8-liter Buick V6 with an Eaton supercharger bolted on top. Production of the Bonneville SSEi continued through the 2003 model year, after which the GXP version and its Cadillac Northstar V8 took over. The 2001 version of this engine made 240 horsepower, good for plenty of torque-steery fun. Could you get this car with a manual transmission? What do you think? Some cursory research indicates that 1970 was the last model year for a three-pedal Bonneville, and even those cars must be incredibly rare. This one looks to have been in nice shape when it arrived here, with the original manuals still in the glovebox. By 2006, the Bonneville was gone; four years later, Pontiac was gone. Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO
Mon, 24 Jun 2013Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
