THE GENTLEMAN I BOUGHT IT FROM ABOUT A YEAR AGO OWNED IT FOR 15 YEARS AND HE WAS TOLD WHEN HE BOUGHT IT THAT THE TRUNK DECK HAD BEEN REPAINTED IN THE MID EIGHTIES. PAINT SHINES AND LOOKS GREAT FOR A 43 YEAR OLD CAR. BUMPERS ARE ORIGINAL AND LOOK AWESOME, GLASS IS ALL FACTORY TINTED AND IS ALSO LIKE NEW. ALL WEATHER SEALS ARE ORIGINAL AND IN GREAT SHAPE. THE TOP IS THE ORIGINAL TOP AND IS UNBELIEVABLE " SEE PICS" INTERIOR IS NEAR PERFECT AND ORIGINAL RIGHT DOWN TO THE CARPET. THIS IS A 400 BIG BLOCK WITH PLENTY OF PEP, TURBO AUTO TRANS THAT SHIFTS LIKE NEW, TILT WHEEL, AM RADIO (DOES NOT WORK) AIR CONDITIONER HAS BEEN CONVERTED TO 134, FACTORY MAG WHEELS WITH LIKE NEW MICHELIN TIRES. THE COMPLETE FRONT END WAS REBUILT JUST PRIOR TO ME BUYING IT AS WELL AS ALL NEW BRAKES. (HAVE RECEIPTS). Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
