1991 Mercedes 300E AMG - Low miles, clean and fast.

I love this car and hate to sell it but have to before my move. It has low 172k
miles and it's maintenance is up to date. It has a fairly new battery and the
Goodyear GTs still have good tread. I just put shocks on it and replaced a faulty
fan motor and controller, plus fuel accumulator and fuel filter.

She's good to go another 100k miles!

I'll let a few quotes from Edmund's Reviews tell you what owners think...

"i purchased this Mercedes in 2006, and it has 204,000 miles on it and I love the
solid feel that you get in driving a Mercedes. I used to own nothing but Japanese
cars. The German engineering is impeccable, this car has been very reliable. I see
why this car was $53,900. 17 years later, still running strong, I see a lot of them
still on the road, they are truely classy cars and they keep their value, so that
should tell you something!"

"I bought mine 1 year ago and have put 20k on the car with no worries. It had 152k
at time of purchase. This is my fifth older mbz and is my favorite one of them all.

Fun to drive, great reliability and the interior layout is practical. I have seen
the 3.0 liter inline six go 400k plus with just a top end rebuild."

"I have owned my 300CE for 2 months, but I love it already. Excellent handling for a
heavy car, good acceleration."

Brabus 800 Roadster is a power-mad aristocrat

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

If we're being completely honest, we haven't exactly been in love with the aesthetics of the sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. It's mostly a front-end issue, with its glowering eagle-eye headlamps and upright, dinner-plate-sized Three-Pointed Star coming across to us as overwrought. That's particularly troublesome for a roadster whose history has of the most elegant designs of all time in its back catalog. Somehow, the new R231 generation's brash visuals seem more at home on this Brabus 800 Roadster to us.
That's probably because the high-dollar German tuner has turned up the wick on the SL's visuals even further, with carbon fiber bodywork, a more aggressive aero kit, matte hood scoop and complex two-finish wheels. It's all-the-way committed to its brashness, in other words - and justifiably so. Anything with 800 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque has earned the right to look however it wants, right?
Brabus started with the SL65 and its not-exactly-underpowered 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12, and went to town, fitting their own turbocharger and intercooler system, along with a less-restrictive exhaust system with driver-selectable sound levels and new engine electronics. The result is a 3.7-second 0-62 mph time, an electronically limited top whack of 217 mph... and one seriously compromised toupée.

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG officially teased in mini video

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

The followup to the Mercedes-Benz S550, the S63 AMG, will sport a biturbocharged V8 that will likely turn out around 550 horsepower. The new engine is probably the 5.5-liter, biturbocharged V-8 that's been popping up in everything from the ML63 to the E63 AMG. The front fascia is more aggressive, which shouldn't come as a surprise, while a meaty exhaust setup can be found out back.
We managed to pick all that up from a short, 17-second video posted by MB. The original video that unveiled the S63 AMG has since been pulled down, making this YouTube clip the best look we now have at the new super sedan, at least until the Germans give up the goods for real.
Be sure to check out the video below, along with our original posting on the S63 AMG.

Mercedes AMG and Cigarette Racing debut 2,220-HP electric motor boat

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell, stretch it and take off the wheels then make it float and you've basically got the just-unveiled Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept. Powered by an all-electric powertrain that offers 2,200 horsepower and 2,213 pound-feet of torque (and uses "numerous components" taken from the not-quite-as-yellow SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive), the sleek concept is being called the "world's most powerful electric drive powerboat." What that means is a top speed of over 100 miles per hour from four 60-kWh lithium-ion batteries and two banks of six liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. And the 240 kWh of total energy should provide plenty of juice out on the water.
Launched (but not literally) at the Miami International Boat Show today, the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept is the result of a partnership between Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing. The boat is 38 feet long (much longer than the 15-foot SLS) and is plastered with AMG branding on the sides and top of the bow above the matte chrome yellow paint (officially called AMG Electricbeam mango). Two 220-kW chargers can refill the batteries, dockside, in about seven hours.
The idea of a powerful electric boat is nothing new (Henrik Fisker talked about a plug-in hybrid watercraft late last year), but this is the first time we've seen Mercedes put its EV technology on the water. Anyone who's afraid of driving an EV in the rain should take note. Check out the complete press release below.
