You are bidding on a 1987 MERCEDES 560SL ROADSTER......It has been in their basement they are the second owner of this vehicle ....it was original bought in Texas ...they just spent 1500 having it maintainaced ...........saw one small dent on the passenger side on the chrome around wheel trim ...looks like a car door was opened on it....not sure if these are the original wheels or the original radio.....everything works but the phone............
1987 Mercedes 560SL Roadster: The Mercedes Benz SL was nicknamed "der Panzerwagen", which translated to "the armored car", by the engineers who designed it. This was partly due to the fact that one of their specifications was to meet or exceed stringent safety regulations that threatened to force the roadster body style into permanent extinction. Produced from 1986 through 1989, this phenomenally popular car sold well over a quarter-million units during this time. This classic Mercedes has withstood the test of time due to its quality engineering. Under the hood, the Mercedes Benz 560SL is powered by a V-8 engine. It sports an overhead cam and fuel injection like its father and grandfather, and maintains a paternal link with a Pagoda-shaped removable hard top. Mercedes Benz had a reputation for quality that is unsurpassed. The fit and finish of the exterior of the Mercedes 560SL is noted for its excellence.
It could wisely be stated the the Mercedes SL is just about the best classic car one could currently purchase. Where else can you find a well-engineered classic that has all the comforts of a late model vehicle and can be driven daily. Not to mention that they are just plain sexy and appreciate in value with each passing day. And if that wasn't enough, because it exceeds 25yrs on the road qualifies for highly discounted registration, inspection, and insurance. This exceptional example was owned by a non-smoker, was well maintained, and even comes with the original window sticker! This Mercedes has a spotless Autocheck History with 3 previous owners and has been a TX vehicle since 1997. Additional features and options include; Both Tops, 5.6L V8 Engine, Auto, A/C, PS, PB, Cruise Control, SRS Airbags, Chrome Mirrors/Bumpers/Grill, Power Windows, Rear Defrost, Tinted Glass, Fog Lights, Sony XPLOD AM/FM/MP3/CD, 10 Disk Changer, Cloth Floormats, Woodgrain Interior Trim, Owners Manuals, Protecto-Plate, Tow Hitch, Tire Tools (still in original plastic), Full Spare Tire, wire Wheels, This is a rare opportunity to purchase an exceptional, very low mileage, foreign classic far below it's current value. Brabus 800 Roadster is a power-mad aristocrat
Wed, 06 Mar 2013If we're being completely honest, we haven't exactly been in love with the aesthetics of the sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. It's mostly a front-end issue, with its glowering eagle-eye headlamps and upright, dinner-plate-sized Three-Pointed Star coming across to us as overwrought. That's particularly troublesome for a roadster whose history has of the most elegant designs of all time in its back catalog. Somehow, the new R231 generation's brash visuals seem more at home on this Brabus 800 Roadster to us.
That's probably because the high-dollar German tuner has turned up the wick on the SL's visuals even further, with carbon fiber bodywork, a more aggressive aero kit, matte hood scoop and complex two-finish wheels. It's all-the-way committed to its brashness, in other words - and justifiably so. Anything with 800 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque has earned the right to look however it wants, right?
Brabus started with the SL65 and its not-exactly-underpowered 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12, and went to town, fitting their own turbocharger and intercooler system, along with a less-restrictive exhaust system with driver-selectable sound levels and new engine electronics. The result is a 3.7-second 0-62 mph time, an electronically limited top whack of 217 mph... and one seriously compromised toupée.
Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold
Wed, 08 Feb 2012Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series [w/video]
Fri, 15 Nov 2013The biggest misconception about the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is that it's simply a higher-performing version of the SLS GT - a closer look, or better yet, a few hot laps on a high-speed racing circuit, reveals that is anything but the case.
Launched in the States in mid-2011, the standard SLS GT is a 583-horsepower, all-aluminum, gull-wing coupe with performance that positions it near the top of the exotic segment. While the AMG team at Mercedes-Benz could have left it alone, their experience with the SLS AMG GT3 race car said there was room for improvement, so they devised the SLS Black Series. The transformation from SLS GT to SLS Black Series is extensive, with no fewer than 17 different significant enhancements.
The engine mapping, crankshaft, connecting rods, valve-train, intake, exhaust and cooling are all modified and the engine's redline bumps up from 7,200 to 8,000 rpm, which pushes output of the hand-built 6.3-liter V8 to 622 horsepower. The power steering receives a new ratio, a coil-over AMG Adaptive Performance suspension is installed along with underbody braces, the track is widened, two-piece carbon-ceramic brakes replace iron rotors at each corner and a lightweight titanium exhaust is fitted beneath. The AMG Speedshift seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is modified and an electronically controlled AMG rear differential lock ensures the power goes to the pavement. Last on the mechanical upgrades are new lightweight forged wheels (10x19 inches front and 12x20 inches rear) wrapped in special R-compound Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.
