2011 MERCEDES ML350 BLUETEC

Two Owner, Certified Pre-Owned with Warranty till 2015, 29k Miles, Excellent Condition, Tow Package, Clean Carfax and Service Records, Always Garaged, All Original Manuals and Books

This 2011 Mercedes ML350 Bluetec is in beautiful and all original, unmolested condition. We bought the truck from the original owner through a local dealer. It was certified pre-owned and we bought it with 18,000 miles on it. The original owner babied the car and it looked brand new when we bought it. It had all its regular service and thorough certified pre-owned check. The car has a clean carfax and good service records, and we have always garaged it. The truck is in the beautiful and easy to keep clean color of Palladium Silver Metallic with a Black interior. It is equipped with heated seats, sunroof and factory installed trailer hitch. We have been extremely happy with the car's performance but are moving onto a pickup truck. The motor is extremely quiet and powerful and 400lb/ft of torque makes passing and accelerating a breeze. It is a seamless and effortless acceleration that you cannot get from a gas engine. The truck tows extremely well and still returns as much as 28mpg indicated on the highway. It is equipped with bluetooth, navigation, and all the other bells and whistles you would expect from a modern Mercedes. The truck only shows very light signs of use and is ready for its next owner.  The truck comes with all original books and manuals. Comes with a full set of weathertech mats. Car is equipped with tow package. Carfax available upon request.

Clark Gable's 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing doesn't sell, then does sell for $1.85 million [UPDATE: w/video]

Sat, 19 Jan 2013

How much extra value does previous celebrity ownership add to of a car? Really, there's no way to know until the car in question hits the auction block and bidders start raising their hands. In the case of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing you see above, the celebrity owner is none other than Clark Gable, who purchased it new. After Gable's death in 1960, the car changed hands a few times before settling with Charles Wood in 1975.
A high-dollar restoration was performed in 1989, and period accessories added by Gable himself were kept in place, including the Rudge knock-off wheels and Nardi steering wheel. Any Mercedes-Benz 300SL is worth a big chunk of money. In the case of Clark Gable's old Gullwing, the bidding stalled at $1.9 million here at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. As one of the 5000-series cars, this 300SL carried a reserve, and a bit of after-the-fact dealmaking saw the car change hands for $1.85 million.

Mercedes mulling Renault-based entry-level X-Class?

Sun, 17 Mar 2013

Somewhere in between the Smart brand and the all-new A-Class (pictured above), Daimler is said to be readying a smaller entry-level product for the Mercedes-Benz brand to compete with models like the Audi A1. According to AutoBild, Mercedes-Benz will get a new hatchback based on a platform from its recent partnership with Renault-Nissan, and it could be called the X-Class.
Expected to debut by 2018, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class could be offered in sedan, hatchback and crossover variants, and it would likely have a starting price below the $20,000-euro mark. Power would come from either a 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter inline-four, and the car would likely be built in a low-cost nation in order to make the financials work. Wearing the Mercedes-Benz name, the X-Class would have to exhibit more distinguishable luxury and styling to set itself apart from the models that helped provide its underpinnings.

Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.
