A terrific German driving automobile. 2nd owner driven 10,200 miles each year by me as Real Estate Agent, 248,255 miles. The E300D runs and drives great. Wonderful to drive, quiet and refined. Tires are 85%. Accelerates, revs and shifts quickly. Has always started all the way to -16 below...no need for engine heater except to have instant heat in cabin. Experience is 26-29 mpg city, 32-36mpg Hwy. Travels 650-750 miles per tank. W124, production 07/94, 3.0L inline 6-cylinder (naturally aspired) 4-speed automatic, Mercedes AM/FM Cassette player, Grey Mercedes Tex seats. 24 valve head rebuilt, milled, new valve seats, seals and glow plugs April 2013. Updated engine wire harness. Non-smoker, books and service records available, A/C always ice cold, Always garaged, Looks & drives great. Career change, purchased Buick in November to drive this winter, garaging E300D. I will miss this economical diesel automobile. Home to show and weekend only.

Replaced driver door vacuum actuator a few weeks ago because doors would not stay locked for more than a few seconds, determining rubber seal on actuator was cracked. Following replacement of door vacuum actuator, doors remained locked however discovered after locking doors Saturday evening locks opened again this morning. Appears doors now remain locked for 5 minutes or so and unlock themselves. Passenger door actuator rubber seal may likely be culprit with rubber cracked, and needs replacing to remedy this. I will be out all week and will not be able to make time and replace passenger door vacuum actuator to remedy this.

Weather was sunny, cold and dry today so I also was able to take clearer photos of dent on fender and rear trunk threshold where paint is cracked, however Ebay will not allow photo or Item description changes or corrections after bidding has started. I was on phone nearly an hour today with Ebay support to be able to determine why.

Upon request I can e-mail updated photos to you.

Thank you, Tom

This is obviously not a "Special Edition". However Ebay does not allow for corrections in Auction errors.

Aston or Bust? Maybach's fate to be decided next month

2011 Maybach 62 - Click above for high-res image gallery
What will become of Maybach? That question has been rattling around the halls of Daimler headquarters in Stuttgart for some time now. But all questions will be answered, and answered soon: according to reports, the German automaker is currently evaluating prototypes and propositions for its top-end marque, and will make its decision next month.
So, what are the options? On the one hand, Daimler could kill the Maybach brand altogether. It was a notion ill conceived and even more poorly executed, taking an old platform and building a new flagship atop it. In that way, it was sort of like the Chrysler Crossfire, only far more costly to both the buyer and manufacturer. On the other hand, Daimler could opt for the long-time-coming proposition of contracting the production (and possibly much of the development) of a new generation of Maybachs to Aston Martin.

Watch this perfectly nice Mercedes get crushed by a front-end loader

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

In a world where the YouTube hoax continues to thrive, it's hard to know what to think of this little vid, but here are the facts as we know them: a coupe that looks like a first-generation Mercedes-Benz CLK gets crushed by a giant front-end loader. There you have it.
Our questions arise in the aftermath - we know industrial resource machinery is heavy, but the Benz gets squashed so flat we wonder if someone's trying to play a joke on us. We hear that the white coupe may have been the heavy-equipment operator's foreman's car, but who knows? The on-camera interview seems awfully conveniently placed, yes? See for yourself in the video below and then leave us your thoughts in Comments.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec gets 33 mpg, priced from $38,950*

Tue, 30 Apr 2013

It's been more than a year since we first saw the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show, but it looks like the compact diesel crossover is finally starting to roll into dealerships. Those wanting to buy a diesel GLK will only have to pony up an extra $1,500 over a base, gas-powered GLK350, as the GLK250's starting price is listed at $38,590 (*not including $905 destination charge).
The turbocharged 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel produces 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and Mercedes-Benz has also provided some fuel economy numbers for this model, with claimed EPA estimates of 24 miles per gallon city and 33 mpg highway. There is no listing for the GLK250 on the EPA's website yet, but the figures represent significant increase over the GLK350's lackluster 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway figures, which are for the rear-wheel drive model. The GLK250 comes standard with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system - a $2,000 option on GLK350 - meaning that if you want an all-wheel-drive version of the 2013 GLK, it's actually cheaper to opt for the diesel model. Head over to the Mercedes-Benz site for the full 2013 GLK-Class configurator.
