2006 Mercedes Benz CLK 350

Triple Black - Original Paint

NO RESERVE

For sale is a 2006 Mercedes CLK350 that I have owned for about a year.  I purchased the car with 99,000 miles on it and put about 5,000 miles on the car so it now has about 104,000 miles on it.  Car is a beautiful triple black convertible in great shape with original paint.  Nice matched Nexen tires with high tread at all four corners.  THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT!  Options are as follows:

Black convertible power soft top with one button operation

Power windows

Power door locks

Electric power tilt and telescopic steering column

Cruise control

Dual power seats

CD Player

Integrated blue tooth phone

This car is a beautiful looking rag top with nice original paint (no major noticeable dings) that shows very well.  The headlights are very clear and crisp without any fogging like you see on some cars.  Runs and drives terriffic, my wife and I drove the car as our personal second car and really enjoyed it.  Interior is in good overall condition.  Car is priced at wholesale pricing.  Included with the car are it's owner's manual's and books.

Some things I would like to point out - Being this is an 8 year old car it isn't new and there are some items I would like to point out for full disclosure.  I run my auctions being overly picky so there aren't any surprises when you come to pick the car up.  Like stated above the paint is in very good overall condition but there is some marks on the driver side door (not sure what they are, a bunch of small nicks about the size as a half dollar, I have a picture of them).  Also there is a small scratch in the paint near the gas cap.  The tires have nice high matched rubber on them like stated above but there is some curb rash on the wheel lips, wheels are really nice except the lips (no clear coat or anything like that pealing off them).  On the interior the leather on the seats is very nice but the driver seat has a little wear on the left side from getting in and out.  The radio has some of the clear pealing off, radio and CD work fine and sound great.  The air conditioning needs charged in the car, it worked when I bought it but stopped blowing cold sometime last summer.  We drove the car in nice weather almost always with the top down so never really needed to use the air conditioning.  The car is due for it's "schedule B" maintenance (not sure what that is) as per the message that comes up on the dash.  This was my first Mercedes so I am not sure what that maintenance check entails.  With the scheduled maintenance message the check engine light comes on with the from time to time.  As you can see in the picture of the speedometer the car is running and the check engine light is not on.  I did have the oil changed last summer.  Lastly the traditional key is missing from the key fob.  The fob itself is used to start the car and the battery in the fob is fine to lock and unlock the doors.  The only reason you would use the traditional key is to lock and unlock the car if the remote batteries aren't working....again just want you to be aware of everything.

I have a lot more than the starting bid price in the car but we did get to enjoy it for a year and now it is time for someone else to enjoy it.  I started the auction at what I feel is a fair price and hope to stimulate some bidding.  Inquire by email on a buy it now price.

The car is  located in Sugarloaf, PA 18249.  It is the buyer's responsibility to make all shipping arrangements.  I can help you out with a broker I use out of Florida who can get the car shipped anywhere in the Country.  I can also deliver the car to the Spring Carlisle Show on Friday, April 25th free of charge as long as the car is paid for in advance.  I have a clean title in hand.  This is a 5 day auction, who ever wins the auction will need to send a non-refundable deposit of $500 through paypal within 24 hours of auction end and pay the balance via certified funds within 4 days of auction end.  Please email any questions.

Ecclestone wonders if F1's upcoming turbo V6s should get augmented sound [w/videos]

Mon, 08 Apr 2013

While every team on the Formula One grid is worried about making a good showing in this year's championship at the same time as they develop a brand-new car for next year's championship, Bernie Ecclestone and F1 circuit promoters have a different concern: how next year's cars will sound. The current cars use 2.4-liter, naturally-aspirated V8s that can reach 18,000 revolutions per minute and employ dual exhaust, next year's engine formula calls for 1.4-liter turbocharged V6s that are capped at 15,000 rpm and are constrained to a single exhaust outlet. Ecclestone and promoters like Ron Walker believe the new engines sound like lawnmowers and that the less thrilling audio will keep people from coming to races. If Walker's Australian Grand Prix really is shelling out almost $57 million to hold the race, every ticket counts. As a fix, according to a report in Autoweek, Ecclestone "suggests that the only way to guarantee [a good sound] may be to artificially adjust the tone of the V6s."
However, neither the manufacturers nor the governing body of F1, the FIA, think there will be a problem. Ecclestone fears that if the manufacturers "don't get it right" they'll simply leave the sport, but the only three carmakers and engine builders left next year, Renault (its 2014 "power unit" is pictured), Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari are so embedded that it would stretch belief to think they'd leave the table over an audio hiccup - if said hiccup even occurs. And frankly, these issues always precede changes to engine formulas, as they did when the formula switched from V10 to V8; fans, though, are probably less focused on the engines and more on the mandated standardization of the sport and the spec-series overtones that have come with it.
No one knows yet what next year's engines will sound like, but we've assembled a few videos below to help us all start guessing. The first is an engine check on an Eighties-era John Player Special Renault with a 1.5-liter V6 turbo, after that is Ayrton Senna qualifying in 1986 in the Lotus 98T that also had a 1.5-liter V6 turbo, then you'll find a short with a manufactured range of potential V6 engine notes, and then the sound of turbocharged V6 Indycars testing last year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Any, or none of them, could be Formula One's future.

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.

Mercedes goes boating again with G63 AMG-inspired Cigarette

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

Cigarette Racing has another Mercedes-Benz AMG-themed boat headed out to sea. After The SLS AMG-inspired 46-foot Rough Rider in 2010 and the C63 AMG Black Series-inspired 50-foot Marauder in 2012, this year's Miami Boat Show will introduce the 42-foot Huntress, theme provided by the G63 AMG.
The latest Cigarette homage is less overly racy than the ones before, befitting a watercraft modeled off a performance SUV, but don't let the looks fool: there are five Mercury Racing Verado 350SCi outboard engines, each one of them packing a supercharged inline six-cylinder with, natch, 350 horsepower. Those 1,750 horses will be good for 78 miles per hour when you've got some saltwater underneath you.
If you're in South Florida this week, Booth B-23 at the Miami Convention Center could be your best place to see it. Otherwise, like the 536-hp G63 AMG, it could be hard to catch. There's a press release with more information below.
