1991 Mercedes-benz 560sel Base Sedan 4-door 5.6l on 2040-cars
North Royalton, Ohio, United States
This car is in excellent condition with 164, 500 miles on it. Mileage may vary slightly as I am currently driving the car. The body is great and has no rust. The following items have been done on the car in the last 3K miles - new Michelin Defender tires, new front brakes and rotors, new front struts/shocks, complete tune-up and full injector carb cleaning, new front headlight and turn signal casings, all new filters, all new fluids, new sunroof track for perfect silent glide when opening and closing, brand new rebuilt transmission, new front ball joints and new idler arm kit installed, alignment, new battery, A/C upgraded to R134 and it's nice and cold, new belts, new radiator fan and housing. Car rides great and has the firm smooth acceleration of the 560 SEL. The interior of the car is spotless and the car is very very clean - just look at the pictures including the drivers side where the seat hass no tears or rips at all. Chrome wheels are in great shape. Paint really shines and interior has never been smoked in - see ashtray pics. All the glass is clean and not damaged. Car is garaged and cleaned and polished regularly. Original first aid kit still in the back window storage box. Reason selling is I am moving. I am selling it locally so I reserve the right to cancel the ad at any time. I will help with the delivery if you're a successful bidder and have a transport company pick it up for you. |

2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupe
Thu, 31 Jan 2013
Mercedes-Benz upgraded its SLS flagship Coupe and Roadster for the 2013 model year, and the changes are marked with them new "GT" nomenclature. Both SLS models arrive with a retuned naturally aspired 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque (the horses are up from 563, but the torque remains the same) mated to a revised seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch gearbox. Rounding out the mechanical upgrades is a redeveloped AMG two-mode adaptive suspension. Physically, the revised models are differentiated by their new "GT" badging, darkened headlight/taillight buckets, red brake calipers, unique wheel colors and high gloss finish on the front grille, exterior mirrors and hood/fender fins. Inside the cabin are new red seatbelts, Alcantara upholstery and contrasting red stitching.
As it is nearly impossible to experience the aluminum gullwing beast on public roads, Mercedes invited out to Southern California's Willow Springs to wring out the 2013 SLS GT Coupe on a racing circuit.
Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold
Wed, 08 Feb 2012Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
Maybach could become Mercedes-Benz sub-brand
Wed, 22 Jun 2011When you're arriving in a twin-turbocharged, twelve-cylinder Maybach limo, there's no reason you should ever have to be late. Except, maybe, to make a fashionable entrance. But up at the corporate level, the entire Maybach brand is being slowed down as critical decisions about its future are being undertaken.
Last week, we reported that a decision on what path Maybach would take going forward would be due at the start of next month, but the latest reports indicate that the timeframe has been extended as further options are being considered.
The previous options under consideration were twofold: either relaunch the brand with production outsourced to Aston Martin - which suddenly finds itself with excess production capacity - or shut it down completely. And those are still two very real options. Word has it that Aston has put together four concept cars for the Daimler brass to consider, all based on the next-generation S-Class platform (and thankfully not the old one).
