I am the 3rd owner of this car and have lovingly maintained it for 4 1/2 years with close to no problems. I have replaced the ignition cylinder, the vacuum pump, the battery and the tires. Other than that all I have had to do is regular oil changes.

The PROS:
Sun roof and automatic windows work.
Runs very good, has a strong engine, with regular oil changes and maintenance.
A well maintained diesel engined 300 turbo Mercedes Benz can run up to 1,000,000 miles, it will run as long as you pour diesel and oil
NO electronic system, therefore no sensors to replace.
Straight body, all trims and emblem intact ,
New battery and tires less than a year old.
Very safe big car that gets great gas mileage.
The car starts quickly, even on colder days.
It runs smoothly, with plenty of power from the turbo.
The transmission shifts sure and true.
The ride is very smooth and solid.
It is a great candidate for a vegetable oil burning system conversion so you can run as you wish diesel, bio-diesel or vegetable oil
Diesel is 1/2 cost of gas and vegetable oil is 1/2 of diesel so great savings.
I have full coverage insurance and pay under $75 a month and the registration fees in CA are only $83 a year.
The registration is already renewed until next March.
This car was always in Southern California so no rusting

The CONS:
There are some minor cosmetic things like a couple small tears near the ceiling lights in the headliner and small paint chips missing near the wheel wells and the driver's seat is worn (but still very comfortable).
The heat works but the A/C does not. I am not sure if this is due to the condensor or if it just needs freon.
The speedometer and odometer do not work. They have not since I have had the car but I have never found this to be an issue.

An atheistically pristine model of this car which would normally go for $4,500. Since there are a couple of cosmetic issues I am pricing it to sell. Contact me with any questions.

Mercedes-AMG GT attacks Circuit of the Americas

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Mercedes-Benz is having a banner year with its Formula One team. Through 2014, the constructor has 454 championship points; ahead of its nearest competitor (Red Bull-Renault) by a margin of 182 tally marks. We're sure they can almost taste the champagne.
It's fitting then, and a little big cocky in a good way, that Mercedes has released a video of its newest sports car at an F1 venue. In this case, the car is the lovely Mercedes-AMG GT S, and the racetrack is Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
Having seen the official photo set and scratched the surface of the technical specifications earlier this week, we're excited to finally hear the thing run. As you might guess, the deployment of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo V8 is a motivating experience. Crank up your volume, and hit that play button. (Oh, and Mercedes shot the thing in 4K, too, so those of you with expensive televisions/monitors should take heed to the settings.)

Carlsson turns Mercedes-Benz SLK into 610-HP hill-climb clawer

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Carlsson's race-tuned versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLK have been taking checkered flags for years, and we won't be surprised if its SLK 340 hill climber fares any different. Developed by multiple German and Swiss hill climb champion Reto Meisel, the carbon-bodied SLK 340 with lightweight brakes and a closed underbody weighs 1,716 pounds. Propelling that tiny bit of weight is a 3.4-liter V8 from Judd with 610 horsepower, and it rolls on 18-inch wheels shod in Avon tires.
It will debut at the Geneva Motor Show before beginning its racing campaigns in the summer. This one won't just tear up roads in Europe, though - Meisel says he plans on bringing it to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The press release below has more details.

Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.
