You are bidding on a very nice and well maintained 2001 Lincoln Continental. This car is loaded with almost every available option. Options are; Power Windows, Power Door locks, Power Mirrors, Automatic Climate Control With A/C, Cruise Control, Factory Sunroof, AM/FM Stereo With Cassette And Factory Six Disc Trunk Mounted CD Player, Driver and Passenger Power Seat with Power Recliners Tilt Steering, Automatic Day Night Inside Rear View Mirror With Compass, Power Trunk Release, Driver, Passenger and Side Air Bags, Drivers Information Center, Leather Interior and Door Mounted Keyless Entry. Powertrain is the 4.6L DOHC Intec V/8 with 4 Speed Automatic Transmission and perfectly working rear air suspension. I have owned this car for 3 plus years and have driven it 21,000 trouble free miles (currently has 84K miles). On 2 trips from Upstate NY to Virginia I have averaged 26 MPG. My reason for selling this fantastic automobile is it is my wife's car and she recently lost her father who was very fond of it and it now reminds her of him. The only things it currently needs are an A/C compressor which leaks when the A/C is charged but blows perfectly cold air, the fuel release button on drivers door, (currently opens from inside trunk) and a new set of tires in the future. Interior is in excelent condition with no rips in the seats (some normal leather weather checks) no cracks in dash or any door panels, headliner is perfect, carpeting is rip free but could stand to be steam cleaned. Exterior is dent and rust free, paint is very shiny but does have a few scratches here and there, chrome and grille are very nice, all glass is in excellent condition with the exception of some scratches on the passenger side of the windshield (looks like from a faulty wiper blade at some time). The engine and transmission perform flawlessly, brakes are 4 wheel disc in excellent shape with no pulls or pulsation. I have changed the oil and filter on this vehicle every 2500 miles since i have owned it. There is a small oil leak near the front of the oil pan but I do not have to add any oil between changes. The title is a clear NY State title. This car has not been driven in the winter by us and originally came from New York City. THERE IS NO RUST ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THIS CAR!! You can call me on my cell phone (607) 242-4743 between the hours of 6PM and 10PM Eastern time or e-mail me at hvillelincolns@hotmail.com with any questions. If you want to see the car in person before auction's end just let me know and I will show it to you. Car is located in Bainbridge NY which is located approx. halfway between Binghamton and Oneonta. This car is being sold with no warranty though! Buyer is responsible for shipping and pickup. $500.00 Deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of auction close, balance due via cashiers check or cash at time of pickup. Thanks for looking and good luck!

Mulally wanted to kill Lincoln as late as last year, Fields vows to turn it around

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

Lincoln fans might want to give incoming Ford CEO Mark Fields a pat on the back for having a hand in saving the brand from the chopping block last year. He's among the people spearheading the rejuvenation of the division away from its stodgy image to appeal to younger customers.
According to two unnamed sources speaking to Bloomberg, CEO Alan Mulally was ready to kill Lincoln last year. Following the slow production ramp-up of the MKZ combined a with a costly ad campaign, Mulally was frustrated and openly suggested dropping the brand. However, Fields and Jim Farley, Ford's marketing boss, convinced the CEO that the brand was worth saving. They also created a plan to prevent similar problems for new models in the future.
It seems that one part of the strategy may involve waiting until new models are at dealers before starting a big ad campaign for them. Lincoln global director, Matt VanDyke, recently told Autoblog that the division is holding off on a full marketing push behind the new MKC crossover to prevent the supply problems that plagued the MKZ last year. Its big offensive begins in the fall when the CUVs are at all of the dealers and consumers are at home watching more TV. VanDyke also told Bloomberg that Fields, Farley and Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, have more direct oversight over new product launches now.

Lincoln MKC prototype caught partially covered, reveals some changes

Tue, 14 May 2013

When Lincoln pulled the wraps off the MKC Concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, we said that the very attractive concept was going to closely mirror the production vehicle. With few exceptions, a clad prototype recently caught running on public roads seems to substantiate our statement.
From what the pictures reveal, the disguised Lincoln MKC production mule and show concept seem to share the same waistline with identical sculpting over the wheels. The midsection of the two also appear to match with the same flare and styling. The lower rockers have been cleaned up a bit, mainly to be more practical in the real world (the deep chisels on the show car would have collected mud and snow).
Taking a look at the exposed front bumper, we see a very similar lower fascia complete wtih the metal skid plate on the chin. The window profile also seems to match the concept, though we're still unclear exactly how that C- and D-pillar section is going to look. Of course, and it always seems to be the case when concepts evolve into production vehicles, the MKC gains four normal door handles, standard-sized mirrors and a slightly smaller wheel/tire package. We expect the production version of the Lincoln MKC to debut later this year.

Lincoln needs a farewell address, not a new marketing plan

Tue, 09 Apr 2013

The trouble with Ford's Lincoln brand is that no one cares about it any more.
Not long after I heard that Mark LaNeve, chief operating officer of Ford agency Team Detroit, was moving to take over direct operations of the New York ad agency Hudson Rouge for Lincoln, I heard that JCPenney CEO Ron Johnson was ousted. The two events are connected.
