this is a 1986 cj7 jeep. it is the laredo model. has leather wrapped grab bar and steering wheel. laredo wheels, chrome grille overlay, rear chrome bumperettes, chrom bumper, clock and tach. all gauges work. has 20 gal fuel tank. brand new tires. the wheels are in pretty good shape. all seats are like new. the fronts have been completely redone to match original but have not done anything to rear seat because its in very good shape. it's the fold and tumble seat. set of 5 factory chrome wheels. amc 20 rear axle with dana 30 front. no rust on frame. only rust on jeep is at the base of rear roll bar support. small spot on each side but has been repaired by body shop. has hardtop that is in good condition except for back hatch that is rusted pretty bad and will need replaced somewhere down the road. jeep is completely stock and complete. jeep has inline 6 motor and automatic transmission. 3.31 gears i believe. would drive this jeep anywhere. would make a good daily driver. it has been parked in shed for last couple of months. did get it out and drove it 30 miles a week or so ago and it worked fine. pics do not do justice to this jeep. it's pretty dusty from sitting a lot. a previous owner painted exterior flat black over the factory maroon color. interior is still maroon. runs and shifts fine. needs a good cleaning(very dusty from sitting in shed) and needs a exterior paint job and would be a very nice jeep for someone. i've described this jeep as best i could. i hopefully didn't miss anything. any questions feel free to ask. selling as is. and have right to end auction early due to having it for sale locally. would be comfortable with cash in person or wire transfer. will not ship but will help load.

NHTSA still mulling crash tests for recalled Jeeps
Thu, 15 Aug 2013Well, no one should ever accuse the government of not giving things plenty of thought. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is still debating whether it will retest any of the 1.56 million 1992 to 1998 Grand Cherokees and 2002 to 2007 Libertys that were part of a recall regarding fires after rear-end collisions. And yes, this debate has been going on for over a month. In other news...
The recall dustup started in early June, when Chrysler took the unusual position of refusing a recall request from NHTSA regarding placement of the fuel tank on the effected vehicles. NHTSA said a collision could cause a fire, a position Chrysler took issue with. Extensive negotiations ensued, with Chrysler agreeing to fit certain Jeeps with trailer hitches, which it said would provide some protection to fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle in the event of a collision.
Part of the issue rests with the amount of data that needs to be processed, according to The Detroit News. NHTSA administrator David Strickland said during a Washington Auto Press Association meeting, "There's a lot of data and Chrysler is being very cooperative in giving us more data." Until that information has been sorted, it looks like re-testing will still be up for debate.
100,000 Jeep Cherokee models subject to further 9-speed recalibration
Thu, 29 May 2014It seems that the software problems with the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the Jeep Cherokee continue to mount. The programming already caused multiple development delays and even postponed the Cherokee's market launch by roughly two months. Now, Jeep has issued another recalibration to hopefully assuage unhappy drivers.
According to Automotive News, this reflash for the allegedly jerky transmission covers over 100,000 Cherokees built before May 5, but it's not technically a recall. If owners are having problems and complain to the dealer, they get the new software. Otherwise, they continue with the current version. New vehicles on dealer lots also receive the latest revision to the programming. It takes only around five minutes to install, but technicians need to take the Cherokee on a test drive to adapt the gearbox to the changes.
The Cherokee's transmission software has been problematic practically since the beginning. The Jeep plant in Toledo, OH, briefly idled its second-shift workers last year to take care of the issue. Since the launch issues for the crossover, demand has been strong. Jeep added another 1,000 temporary workers to the Toledo factory to keep up, and sales were on par with the Wrangler in just its first two months.
2014 Jeep Cherokee gets official in a hurry
Fri, 22 Feb 2013Automakers work very, very hard to keep their new vehicles under wraps until they can present them in exactly the way they want it - typically choreographed under the bright lights of an auto show, or perhaps with photos or video in an idyllic location. Spy shooters and leaks, in other words, keep executives and public-relations types up at night.
This is likely to be one of the most polarizing designs to come out in 2014.
Take today, for instance, when the team over at Jalopnik got a big scoop - the first undisguised shots of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, a model whose name wasn't even officially confirmed yet. The clandestine images taken inside of a factory were blurry and didn't exactly show off the crossover's radical new contours in the same sort of flattering light that Jeep probably would've wished for its product reveal. So the Auburn Hills automaker has wisely reacted by spilling at least some of the beans on the new model, giving us these four photos and confirming the Liberty replacement's name, Cherokee.
