Listing today is for my 1983 T-Bird Heritage Edition. I have owned this car since 2008 and it had approx 75k miles on it, today it has 91k on it. We purchased this car for my sons 1st car and it served its purpose very well never having any issues. He has since moved on to college and roped me into getting him a new car so for the past couple years it has only been driven sparingly and sits in my garage covered up but due to the possibility of a change in careers its time to unload some of my cars as I cant drive them all. Since owning the car numerous items have been repaired or replaced. Some of the items I recall at the moment are a new heater core, new brakes, headliner was replaced, window motors replaced, new tires. Car originally had steel wheels and hubcaps and now has mustang turbine rims on it. If you want I believe I still have the original steel wheels and I know I have the caps. I believe I am the 4th owner of the car. The car started out in CA and then was in PA, the gentleman I purchased it from only owned it a short time and purchased it from a family member. Since I have owned it it has never seen snow and I don't believe it was ever winter driven as the underside is very clean and rust free. The doors are solid and not rotted out at the bottoms like typical fox body birds. Car has a/c but it hasn't worked since I've owned it and never looked to see what was needed. The window run channels and dew wipes are perfect and not dried out or cracked. The car has keypad entry which works with the original ford code sticker still in the trunk. I have the original owners manual along with some factory Ford service manuals. Right now as the car sits the grille on it is painted to match the car but I also have a chrome original grille that goes with the car. Both grilles have the correct turquoise T-Bird emblem that was used on the Heritage editions. Because it is a Heritage it also has the coach lamps. They lit faintly when I bought the car but now just give out a faint hum which I believe signifies a bad invertor in them which can be repaired with a little electrical know how. The only item the car needs at the moment is a muffler.  Due to my change in careers and moving I have listed this with a low reserve and will consider the high bid if reserve not met so bid to win. If you have any questions or want any other pictures just ask and I will get them as soon as I can.

Ford cleans up painting process with cameras

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Knowing how the bacon gets made rarely entices us and, in the same vein, the same usually goes for knowing about how new cars get painted. But in both instances, however, quality - or a lack thereof - is instantly obvious. In terms of the latter, Ford is showing off its new paint quality process with 3D Dirt Detection Technology to find imperfections in vehicle paint more easily and more quickly.
This process - being performed on the F-150 SVT Raptor above - uses 16 computer-controlled cameras to create a three-dimensional model (inset) of the vehicle to detect flaws in the paint including dirt particles, which can then be buffed out manually. Ford says this new technology cuts down on time spent looking for paint flaws and gives workers more time to correct those that are discovered.
Currently, Ford only uses its 3D Dirt Detection Technology system at three factories (the Dearborn, MI facility, along with those in Louisville, Kentucky and Valencia, Spain), but it will soon spread to five more plants in North America. Ford has released a video and press release for this innovative and unexpectedly interesting process, both of which are posted below.

Project Ugly Horse: Part VIII

Now With More EcoBoost
There's an EcoBoost 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in there somewhere, and it's headed straight for Ugly Horse.
For the second time in my life, I'm staring at an engine in the back of a truck with no concept of how to get it safely into the garage by my lonesome. The first time this happened, I dragged home a $300 International 345 V8 in the back of my Scout Terra only to discover that the bounds of my manliness terminated well before my ability to muscle that 800-pound cast iron block out of the pickup bed.

Ford F-150 SVT Raptor sales jumping to new heights

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

Ford can't seem to build F-150 SVT Raptors fast enough. The off-road-ready trucks have been one of the Blue Oval's most reliable sellers, with record sales in eight of the last 10 months and a 14-percent jump in 2013. That's impressive enough, considering that the least expensive Raptor starts at $44,000. Factor in the modded F-150's fuel economy (it's rated at 11 miles per gallon in the city and 16 on the highway) and a national average gas price, as of this writing, of $3.55 per gallon, and its success is as unlikely as Ford's home team, the Detroit Lions, winning the Super Bowl this year (sorry, Lions fans, we're just quoting the experts in Vegas...).
Yet for some reason, Raptors spend an average of just 15 days on dealer lots before being snapped up, which is a quarter of the 60-day industry average. According to Ford's truck group marketing manager, Doug Scott, it's capability that keeps the Raptor selling strong. "What's helping drive Raptor sales is that Raptor delivers unmatched off-road performance to our customers. Raptor is also proof of our commitment to offer a truck for every customer and continuously improving them to meet our customers' evolving needs."
To address the strong demand for Raptors, Ford will bump production from three trucks per hour to five. Not much, we agree. But building an extra 48 trucks per day, at most, seems like a prudent way of addressing demand without oversaturating what is ultimately a niche market. Check out the press release below for more.
