Summer is here and you need a good, great value cruiser, so your search may be over.
This nice driver quality T'Bird has a nice look with the fresh blue paint and will make you look good as you pull in to your local cruise-in with the classic style that everybody loves. The power is supplied by a strong running 390 v8 coupled to a NEW automatic transmission.
I am assisting the owner of this classic and he needs to quick sale price it so he can go back to France for a month. According to the owner, there is some water leakage at the cowl area although not too bad, some very minor rust in the trunk pan and cowl area, and a slight exhaust leak at the manifold pipe. He does have a new gasket for you to install to stop the leak. All power windows work, but 2 switches are touchy, so he will provide 2 new ones with the sale. The ignition works fine, but sometimes requires a little " jiggle " of the key - an easy fix. The hood release cable is operated by the included vice grips. About once a month you need to top off the power steering fluid, so a new seal may be in order in the future.
The car runs, drives, shifts, and stops very well. The lights, signals, horn, heater, and all gauges work as they should. Even the chrome is pretty decent and the car was just re-painted back to the original color & it looks great. New carpet and trunk kit were also added. Some pictures may still show the light blue color from before the re-paint, but it has been painted since these pictures were taken. The interior is pretty decent with only 1 or 2 small tears in the headliner that are not very obvious.  The unibody undercarriage is pretty good with typical Ohio surface rust, but nothing that would be alarming to me.
If you have less than 3 positive eBay feedback, please send me your name and phone number BEFORE you bid, or your bid may be cancelled. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to be received within 48 hours of auction end with balance due in cash or bank wire transfer received within 7 days of end of auction. I recommend that you come to see and drive the car and can arrange a private showing for you.  The car is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel this ad at any time. Reserve is VERY modest for a car like this. Call Jack at 330/389-0456 with any questions or to schedule a private viewing.

Did a US automaker blow the whistle on Hyundai, Kia fuel economy issue?

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

In all of the most hotly contested mainstream segments of the motoring universe, the difference of one mile per gallon averaged on a widow sticker can mean the difference between a sale and a walk-off - to say nothing of two or three mpg. So, when Hyundai and Kia were forced to reveal that many of their 40-mpg ratings were actually 38s and 37s, well, it made for big news.
It also, conceivably, made for a competitive disadvantage immediately, when the Korean automakers' products were being shopped versus the guys down the block. And it's that disadvantage that makes a recent story from Automotive News so juicy.
AN is reporting that Margo Oge, former head of the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, got a tip in 2010 that Hyundai/Kia were "cheating" to get its impressive fuel economy numbers. The tip, said Oge (who retired from the EPA this past September), came from a senior vice president from a domestic automaker. The source was credible enough for Oge to launch an audit of the Hyundai figures, which ultimately lead to the debacle that we reported on a few months ago, and that the Korean company has been trying to bounce back from ever since.

Bill Ford op-ed argues we can't just build and sell more of the same cars

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

It's hardly a secret that the auto industry is undergoing an enormous, tectonic shift in the way it thinks, builds cars and does business. Between alternative forms of energy, a renewed focus on low curb weights and aerodynamic bodies, the advent of driverless and autonomous cars and the need to reduce the our impact on the environment, it's very likely that the car that's built 10 years down the line will be scarcely recognizable when parked next to the car from 10 years ago.
Few people are as able to explain the industry's many upcoming changes and challenges as clearly as William Clay Ford, Jr., better known as Bill Ford. The 57-year-old currently sits as the executive chairman of the company his great-grandfather, Henry Ford, founded over 110 years ago.
In an op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal (subscription required), Ford explains that the role of automakers is, necessarily, going to change to suit the needs of the future world. That means changing the view of not just the automobile, but the automaker. As Ford explains it, automakers will "move from being just car and truck manufacturers to become personal-mobility companies."

How Ford secretly used customers to test its aluminum F-150 [w/video]

Fri, 30 May 2014

Automakers getting clever about disguising development vehicles isn't anything new. Between mules wearing the sheetmetal of other cars and prototypes decked out in as much camouflage as is practical, automakers know how to make it very difficult for the general public to get an exact idea of what kind of vehicle is in development. Ford, though, is rapidly becoming the master.
We knew that the Blue Oval originally tested the durability of the aluminum construction being used for the 2015 F-150 by building an all-aluminum 2014 truck and entering it in the Baja 1000 off-road race. That's no longer a secret. What we didn't know, though, is that the aluminum development dates back to before even that, and that some of the people in question had no idea what it was they were working with.
Ford says this is the first time prototypes have ever been handed over to the public.
