1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible This car was 3 years in the making, the majority of this car is brand new, Over $13,000 was spent building it. Everything on this car, including the built 306, has been done within the last 3,500 miles. This car was originally a Red 88 GT Convertible, but the entire car, including jams, are now Gunmetal Grey Metallic. The paint on the car is clean and very shiny, I would not call it perfect, but it is a strong 8 out of 10. All the interior is brand new including: seats, 5.0 floor mats, carpet shell and door panels. The dash and the console are in Excellent Condition. I do not have any pictures of the car with the top up, but am able to send one via text. The top is black and in very nice condition, including the back glass and stitching. The entire suspension system on the car is new, with Pro-Touring Offset and Adjustable Towers. The car has a very nice stance and is surrounded by new color-matched Saleen Wheels and new tires. Features: Built 306 with an F-Cam Trick-Flo Intake 75mm Throttle Body Underdrive Pullies BBK Ceramic Headers Torque Thrust Exhaust With X-Pipe Welded Frame Rails Trimic Shorty Shifter 373 Rear-end B&M Clutch System Fiberglass Snake Eye Hood Saleen Graphics Package Saleen Roll-Bar Smoked Headlights & Fog Lights White Gauge Cluster The car is very aggressive and a blast to drive. It is an extreme attention getter and a great weekend driver, but nice enough to take to a car show. The A/C Compression System is new on the car, but has never been charged. The car is in perfect mechanical order, you can come and drive it home with no worries. Sorry the pictures are not the best; The car sits in my warehouse and never gets out, which is why we are selling it, so someone can actually enjoy it. I am sure I have missed something about the car; feel free to call me with questions. Thanks. Jake 660-676-5800 |

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
Ford reveals EcoBoost-powered Riley prototype for Daytona 24
Tue, 01 Oct 2013It's not the first time Ford has participated in the Daytona Prototype class as an engine supplier, but in revealing this new EcoBoost V6-powered Riley Technologies prototype for the new United SportsCar Championship, Ford is making a statement: "We want to show Ford EcoBoost's capabilities as an engine that provides both performance and fuel economy, on and off the track," says Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing.
In addition to supplying the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6, Ford had its production designer Garen Nicoghosian give the racecar brand-inspired design cues with support from Ford Racing chief aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus.
The car is scheduled to compete at next year's Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 25-26, but before that, Michael Shank Racing is working with Ford at another goal. Driving his Ford Thunderbird, NASCAR champion Bill Elliott set the track's top speed record at 210.364 miles per hour during a qualifying run for the Daytona 500 - way back in 1987 -- and Ford thinks it's about time for that record to fall. What better time the introduction of this new Ford-powered Daytona Prototype? Michael Shank Racing plans to use the twin-turbo V6-powered racer to beat Elliott's record, and it expects to begin prepping for the top-speed run on October 9. Scroll down for the full press release below on Ford's latest race effort.
Ford Transit production fires up, American Pickers among first takers
Wed, 30 Apr 2014Not long ago, the History Channel showed a seemingly unending stream of World War II documentaries, but it made a switch a few years ago to include an increasing mix of 'reality' programming. American Pickers was one of the early attempts at this new formula, with cameras following hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz around the country in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter as they tracked down collectibles and "rusty gold" for their Iowa shop, Antique Archeology. The show has since gone on to become one of the channel's most popular programs.
Starting in the new episode airing tonight, the affable hosts will swap their Benz for a 2015 Ford Transit, a nicely timed bit of marketing to coincide with the launch of the model's assembly at the Blue Oval's Kansas City Assembly Plant, which also kicks off this week. Ford is touting 2,000 new jobs created as part of its $1.1-billion investment in the plant.
No strangers to product placement, the guys from American Pickers say their switch away from the Sprinter is because they wanted to balance cargo capacity and fuel economy to make the most of their cross-country jaunts. They opted for the largest Transit available with a long wheelbase, extended body and high roof, giving them 487 cubic feet of cargo room. Hauling power comes from a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel engine with 190 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque and a six-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. Fittingly, the van wears the same Antique Archaeology logo over white paint as their old Sprinter.
