Hello and thanks for viewing this 1968 Ford Xl. This car is equipped with either a 429 or 460 engine. It is not a 390 although it was originally equipped with one. This car actually rides and drives quite nicely and accelerates down the road with ease. The C6 transmission shifts smoothly and without hesitation. The car has been a daily driver, for one of my employees, for the last 6 weeks as he has been repairing his car. This car has given him no problems and the only problem he has reported to me is that the brakes are a little stiff and the hide a way headlights are a little slow, but work fine.

The story on the car is as follows: I bought the car around 7 months ago as a project to relive my youth as a 68 Ford Xl is what I drove when I was 17. I know, we all try to relive our youth, but I had some very fond memories in my 68. The car needs paint; as I showed in the pictures, but the panels are very straight and the car is as close to rust free as I have found on a car in many years. I bought it and had the full intentions of repainting, restoring it and keeping for a weekend cruiser, but a friend of mine made a statement that changed my mind. He looked at it a made the comment that it looked like a 60’s model NASCAR. I shrugged it off and was content with my plan until I went to a car show and met David Pearson in person. We walked around with him for quite a while and I genuinely liked the guy. My same buddy said, “Wouldn’t it be cool to make your car look like something he would’ve driven when he was racing.” And that’s how this car came about as we lettered it just like his car from the era. I am in the middle of four other projects, so I have decided to sell a few.

Now onto the condition of the 68; the engine is pretty impressive and sounds amazing. We installed a Comp Thumper Cam that hits very nicely. We even have attached a video so you can see for yourself. We also installed a noisy gear drive timing set that gives it a little more attitude. The interior is presentable with the dash being in the worst condition, it is cracked. The seats are impressive, for their age and to the best of my knowledge, they are tear free. The headliner is in great shape, the package tray has come unglued where it would go behind the seat and is a very simple fix. The door panels are in very good

Diesel details: Comparing Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, Chevy Silverado Duramax, Ford F-150 Powerstroke

Thu, Jun 13 2019

With specifications for the 2019 Ford F-150 Power Stroke diesel already out, and the details on the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and Chevy Silverado Duramax (and its GMC Sierra twin) trickling out, we felt it was a good time to start comparing the full-size trucks' light-duty diesels. Bear in mind, we've only driven one of these new diesel trucks, so we'll be sticking to numbers for now. Some numbers haven't been announced yet, either, but stay tuned, because we'll be updating this post with additional specifications as they become available. And if you want to compare any other versions of these trucks with other vehicles, be sure to check out our comparison tool. Now let's start comparing, starting with our big chart of numbers below. As we can plainly see, these trucks are quite closely matched. Each one has six cylinders, a displacement of 3.0 liters and a turbocharger to boost it. The output of each is somewhat close, too. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is the torque king at 480 pound-feet, 20 more than the GM trucks and 40 more than the Ford. The GM trucks win on power, though, with 277 ponies, 17 more than the Ram, and 27 more than the Ford. GM does report that you get their trucks' peak 460 pound-feet of torque from 1,500 rpm to 3,000 rpm, whereas the others only report peak torque at a particular point in the rev band, but all of these trucks should have wide, flat torque curves as you would expect from modern turbodiesels. 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel View 8 Photos Engine output is only one part of the truck performance equation. We also have towing and payload capacity, as well as fuel economy. With towing, the Ram 1500 is the current leader with a maximum capacity of 12,560 pounds. That tops the Ford F-150's 11,400-pound tow rating by well over 1,000 pounds. The F-150 can carry 2,020 pounds in its bed, but we don't know yet whether that's better or worse than the Ram or the GM trucks. We also don't have numbers for the GM trucks' towing capacities. View 9 Photos As for fuel economy, the Ford F-150 manages a thoroughly impressive 22 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway with two-wheel drive. Choosing four-wheel drive drops those numbers to 20 and 25 respectively. The fuel economy numbers for the Ram, Chevy and GMC haven't been revealed yet, but for some comparison, we can look at the old Ram EcoDiesel. That truck's best fuel economy was 20 in the city and 27 on the highway with two-wheel drive.

Preposed class-action lawsuit targets 'defective' MyFord Touch

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

A national law firm, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit whose presupposition is that MyFord Touch is defective. Specifically, the complaint states that the system - as well as the MyLincoln Touch and MyMercury Touch clones - often freeze, fail to respond to voice or touch commands and have issues connecting to mobile phones.
According to Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman, MyFord Touch is a theoretically "brilliant idea" that falls short in actual execution. Said Berman in a press release, "In reality, the system is fundamentally flawed, failing to reliably provide functionality, amounting to an inconvenience at best, and a serious safety issue at worst."
Other MFT issues enumerated within the 41-page filing include problems controlling the window defroster, rear-view camera and navigation system. The suit maintains that Ford is aware of the problem but has yet to submit a workable and acceptable solution to MFT customers. Scroll down if you'd like to read the full press release.

Chip Foose tastefully enhances his personal Ford GT

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Typically, we'd expect a vehicle from 2006 to fall well short of a more modern vehicle, both in terms of performance and style. Of course, the Ford GT is not your average offering from the Bush era. That's doubly true when the 2006 GT in question belongs to one Chip Foose.
Purchased by his wife as a 50th birthday present, Foose is showing his custom, personalized GT at the 2014 SEMA Show. The 5.4-liter supercharged V8 breathes a bit easier thanks to a full Magnaflow Performance exhaust, but Foose's GT isn't all about the performance.
Instead, the car customizer extraordinaire has focused on tasteful aesthetic enhancement, tweaking the rear end by removing the bumper and trimming the frame extensions. The wheels, meanwhile, are one-off aluminum alloys, designed by Foose himself. Like the stripes, the wheels feature orange accenting.
