1970 Dodge Charger 500 383/727 Auto 8-3/4 Sure Grip. Burnt Orange/Burnt Orange with a white vinyl top. This car is a Great project and has very very good bones. The frame rails are very nice and has some easily removable frame connectors if need be... Grill is in decent condition but, will need some work(comes with all components including hideaway headlight vacuum actuator). Fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid and quarters are all workable. Trunk Pan will need to be replaced and floor pans will need some patches. Car comes with some new sheet metal: Quarter skins(DS already installed), lower fender patch USA piece and inner wheel houses.

This car has a NON-Numbers 383/727 and 8-3/4 Sure Grip rear. ALL BODY NUMBERS MATCH(Rad support and trunk gutter) the vin tag and original fender tag...Car did not have a dash when I purchased the car but, I installed a very nice complete non-A/C Tik Tok Tac rallye dash including original wiring harness. Car comes with the original Vin tag and fender tag decoded as:

40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.

What's the deal with Chrysler demanding colleges crush their Vipers? [w/video]

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

Students and teachers at a Washington community college are up in arms following an order from Chrysler that it must destroy the pre-production Dodge Viper that was donated to the school's automotive technology program ten years ago.
The Viper in question is said to be the fourth off the production line, based on its VIN, and has had its emissions controls disabled, allowing its ten-cylinder engine to produce 600 horsepower, according to a report from Yahoo! Autos. As one of the first Vipers ever produced, the school's AT instructors claim it could be worth $250,000 in a museum, while a local news report purports that Jay Leno once tried to purchase the car, but the sale was prevented by Chrysler.
As pointed out by our friends at Autobytel, though, there are a lot of things in this story that don't quite add up. Immediately noticeable from the news report embedded below - which shows the car at South Puget Sound Community College - is that the car in question is not a 1992 model. When the Viper went on sale in 1992, it was only available as an RT/10 with a (flimsy) soft top, like the red car shown above. But the car featured in the report from KING5 News (inset image) is clearly a hardtop Viper GTS, which didn't enter production until 1996. And even if, as reported by a local newspaper, the hardtop featured is a prototype, it doesn't explain the lack of another iconic feature of the first Vipers - their distinctive side pipes. This kind of pokes holes in the school's argument that this is the fourth Viper to ever roll down the line. At best, this appears to be a pre-production Viper GTS.

2013 Dodge Dart GT

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

My younger brother bought a Dodge Dart earlier this summer. It's a basic SXT, in Maximum Steel Metallic, with the 2.0-liter engine, a six-speed automatic transmission and not a whole lot else. Unfortunately, at the time, the Dart was one of the few cars in the compact class I'd never driven. I didn't know a lot about it, and therefore, didn't have a lot to say when he bought it. I think the words "based on an Alfa," popped out when I first saw it.
As it turns out, he's grown quite fond of the dark gray sedan, so it was with some degree of enthusiasm that I paid him a visit in this bright-orange Dart GT. I was excited to see what it was about the Dart that he enjoyed so much, despite my tester featuring a different engine, transmission and a lot more tech. After a week with the car, though, I must say: I don't quite see what all the fuss is about.
