1983 - Datsun Other on 2040-cars
Westwood, California, United States
1983 Datsun Pulsar NX. This is the first year of production for the 2 door coupe. This is all original down to the fuel filter. 41,000 original miles. A true collectors piece. Guaranteed to never find one like it. Originally bought in Sacramento at Florin Road Datsun. The car still has its original license plates along with the Datsun dealership license plate frames from 1983. The original owner rarely drove the car. Just back and forth to church and weekend errands. Kept in her garage its whole life, there is no sun damage to the interior or even the back of the rear seat were the sun beats down through the rear window. The interior is really clean. No rips or tears on any of the seats, door panels, carpets or headliner. It shows near new! Original radio that still sounds great. Sunroof flips up easily and it does have the sun cover for it. (in the truck picture) All instruments work including heater, tachometer, odometer and speedometer. (Only the clock is in-op) The exterior is all original with all of its original decals still intact. Paint still shines very well. Original hubcaps are all still in great shape. No accidents. Very clean underneath as well. Brand new tires. The motor runs very well. Everything is original even the fuel filter. I replaced the timing belt, which was original, due to the age of it. Original sparkplug wires, radiator, hoses, fuel lines, everything. Its amazing to see. Trunk carpet is very clean.

Fiat contemplating sub-brand to compete with Dacia, Datsun
Tue, 05 Feb 2013You can add Fiat to the admittedly short list of automakers considering a low-cost brand to rival Dacia. The inexpensive Eastern European brand from Renault-Nissan has performed on the balance sheet like a premium model line, and the money the alliance is taking off the table is encouraging other players to deal themselves in. Pretty soon Nissan's Datsun sub-brand will join the Dacia party, going on sale in Russia, Indonesia and India and will claim even more rubles, rupiahs and rupees for the parent company. Volkswagen recently said it will make a decision this year on a budget line for the Chinese market. With the euthanasia of Lancia and plans to move the Fiat brand upmarket, company CEO Sergio Marchionne wonders aloud to Automotive News Europe whether there could be room for a new budget brand underneath Fiat.
We're told that the initiative has been in the idea box for five years and even moved to the stage of name considerations, like Innocenti, but worries about profit kept it from realization. If such a range were to be developed, Marchionne says it couldn't be built in Italy and stay within budget, and the company is "analyzing its manufacturing capacity outside of Europe to see if a low-cost brand is viable."
Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
