Rare 1955 Imperial Newport 2 door. One of only 3418 ever built, this vehicle is from my
father’s car collection. My father purchased the car in 1995 from a man in Oakland Ca. During his ownership here
in California he kept the car garaged and drove it occasionally on club functions. The battery is new and the 331
Hemi engine starts right up. The car runs, drives and stops well. The master cylinder and power brake booster were
replaced a few years ago. The car comes with real wire wheels. The glass all looks good. The car has some pitting
of the chrome, some surface rust in a few spots, some surface cracking of the leather interior, one tear in the
seats (measuring about an inch long). Original color is cream and it is now painted white with the gold top.
Hagerty valuation tools lists the value of this car at $79,700 if it were restored to “#1 Concours” condition
and at a value of $16,800 if in “#4 Fair” condition. This car meets or slightly exceeds the #4 condition
description but is not a “#3 Good” example, in my opinion.
Brief History of the 1955 Imperial: With understated elegance and a well-deserved reputation for excellent
engineering, the Imperial marked the pinnacle of the Chrysler product line. Notably, 1955 marked the registration
of Imperial as a separate marquee within the Chrysler Corporation, and the completely new-for-1955 models benefited
from the full stylistic influence of the renowned Virgil Exner.
For 1955, Imperials were available in two forms: the C-69 short wheelbase version known as the Newport Coupe or
Sedan, along with the C-70 long wheelbase sedan version named the Crown Imperial. Featuring excellent build
quality, the upscale Imperial was priced from $4,483, providing a very attractive alternative to the contemporary
offerings from Cadillac and Lincoln.

Chrysler stays IPO until 2014
Mon, 25 Nov 2013There will not be a Chrysler IPO in 2013. Fiat, according to a report from Forbes, has announced that it will not be able to make the American brand's initial public offering before the end of the year, saying that the short, five-week window that makes up the rest of 2013 is "not practicable."
Not surprisingly, the issue with the Chrysler IPO is the same as it's always been - a disagreement between parent company Fiat, which owns 58.5 percent of the Chrysler Group and a UAW healthcare trust, which owns 41.5 percent. Fiat wants to buy out the UAW VEBA healthcare trust, which is responsible for shouldering retiree healthcare costs, but the two sides are hung up on an actual price tag for the remaining two-fifths of the company.
The original idea saw an IPO as a way of setting a fair market price for the remaining shares, although it's not entirely clear what broke down and led to a delay of the IPO plan. As Forbes points out, by waiting until 2014, Chrysler could be risking a cool-off in the IPO market, which could mean less money in its pocket when the automaker finally goes public.
Chrysler's Woodward Dream Cruise festivities include Ram concept truck debut
Tue, 13 Aug 2013The streets will be crowded next weekend along Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak, Michigan for the 19th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise. As part of the run-up to the festivities, Chrysler has announced that all of its brands - Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, SRT and Mopar - will bring along their latest vehicles. Also included will be a collection of classic American cars and various activities for attendees at the official Chrysler location on the corner of Woodward and 13 Mile Road.
Special to this year, Ram brand director Bob Hegbloom and head of design John Dehner will unveil a Ram concept truck on Saturday. Chrysler will also bring Ryan Friedlinghaus of West Coast Customs fame along to show off a few custom Chrysler-made vehicles of his own. Fans of the brand on Facebook will get the chance to virtually customize a vehicle from the automaker's portfolio, with the winner getting their dream car built for them by Chrysler. Pretty cool stuff, no?
As in past years, Ford and General Motors will have an official presence at the event as well, and you can expect to see plenty of cars of all makes and models from all parts of the globe. The madness starts this Friday, August 16, from 4:30 PM to 10 PM, with the main event taking place on Saturday, from 9 AM to 9 PM. Aurora lands Fiat Chrysler as a client of its self-driving technology
Mon, Jun 10 2019SAN FRANCISCO — Self-driving car software startup Aurora said on Sunday it would partner with Fiat Chrysler to build autonomous platforms for commercial vehicles, the latest collaboration with an automaker for the fast-growing Silicon Valley company. The deal with one of the Detroit Three will expand Aurora's scope, "allowing us to offer a variety of solutions to strategic customers in logistics, transit and other use cases," the Palo Alto, California-based company said in a brief statement. Besides for ride-hailing fleets, automakers and others are interested in self-driving technology for commercial applications, such as delivery vans. Financial terms were not disclosed. Aurora already has partnerships with Volkswagen AG, Hyundai and China's Byton to develop and test self-driving systems for a range of applications for automakers, fleet owners and others. The company is among dozens of startups, automakers and large technology companies working on self-driving car systems, eager to capitalize on a sea change in the transportation industry brought by developments in machine learning. Fiat Chrysler has an existing partnership with Waymo, Alphabet's self-driving unit, in which it supplies Chrysler Pacifica hybrid minivans for Waymo's driverless fleet, which is currently in operation in Arizona. In February, Aurora said it had raised $530 million in new funding.
