Up for auction is this fully restored, 96,000 actual miles, 2 owner, '76 Chevy K20 4x4. This truck is solid ! The truck has always been here in central Virginia and was a trade-in at my dealership. The long term owner purchased this truck in 1978 (I have the 1978 title in hand) and always kept it on his farm (hence the low miles).
We decided because of its strong 6.6L 400 SBC and the overall good shape of the truck, to go forward with a restoration of the truck.
From front to rear, the following has been done:
New front bumper (just looks better)
New front inner fenders (old ones were just dented up and one was half missing)
New Windshield and Weatherstripping
Replacement Doors (mint condition from a 1985 model)
New Stainless Steel Mirrors
New Door Weatherstripping
New Rocker Panels
New cab corners
New Interior Carpet
New Interior Dash Pad
Restored Door Panels and Dash accessories
New Sun Visors
Replacement Bed (mint condition from a 1985 model)
New Tail Lights
New Rear Bumper
Complete Paint Job inside and out (bed off, doors stripped, under hood, everything painted)
6.6L 400 engine: Complete Tune up (NEW: plugs, wires, gaskets, Distributor, coil, Water pump)
Rebuilt OEM Rochester Carburetor
New power steering and alternator belts
All new fluids
New Brake Booster
New Brake Master Cylinder
New Rotors
New front brake calipers
New front hub bearings
New rear brake drums
New rear brake wheel cylinders
New rear axle seals
3:7:3 gear ratio
Entire frame cleaned and painted
New true dual exhaust front to rear (2 1/2").
New 235/75/16 10 ply tires
This truck was equipped with factory A/c but was previously removed. It need a compressor and lines to be functional again. The rest is still there.
As you can see from the list of options, replacement parts, and time spent, this truck is as reliable as it is good looking. You cannot and will not find one in better shape with all of this done to it for the money. I do this as hobby to pass time. Thi vehicle is sold As-IS, I do not have any fees in addition to the purchase price. I include 30 day temp tags free of charge to you, and can arrange delivery (with FULL pre-payment for vehicle and delivery).
If you have any questions, please just ask. Email, or call/text 540-447-4297

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
