1953 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 Ton Pickup

This little looker is a 1953 Chevrolet 3100 custom build restoration. Originally from California the interior and the exterior have been redone with several added features all on the original frame. All new glass. Its painted flat black with wonderful green and creme pin striping that accent the hood, headlights, door handles, dash, and tail gate of the truck. The front bumper is a custom piece, the rear deck below the tailgate has been modified for aesthetics. The wooden bed has been refreshed. The rear fenders are mini-tub in the box to help fit wider tires. The gas tank is a 10 gallon spun aluminum tank that has been relocated to the bed.

It sports a Heidts Mustang II front end with Heidts tubular upper and lower control arms. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, with an S10 Disc rear end. New rubber all around on Southern Mint* painted Chevy rally rims with beauty rings and center caps. It has been fitted with a modern dual compressor air ride suspension system front, back, side to side from AirBagIt. It has 6 Sromberg carburetors that feed a 348 chevy block with 7,400 original miles. The engine was pulled from a 1958 fire truck and all of the accessories were replaced brand new. There is a pair of Sanderson block hugger headers, which flow through a set of flow masters out the rear end. The engine is mated to a rebuilt Turbo 350 3 speed transmission, with a Lokar shifter on the floor. The truck has all new wiring from speedway.

The interior has been completely redone with custom upholstery on the seat, door cards, shifter boot, and visors. It features a beautiful dashboard out of a 1953 Pontiac Chieftain with custom pin stripping on the dash panel. The steering wheel is originally from a 1958 Buick Roadmaster. There has been hundreds of hours and fistful's of money put into this. Fortunately for you, the seasons are changing and its time for me to put the money from this truck into another restoration project.

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues

Wed, 28 Dec 2011

'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

Next-gen GM SUVs caught wearing new boxy bodies [w/video]

Wed, 15 May 2013

We recently drove the brand-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and found it to be vastly improved compared to the outgoing model. And now that The General's pickup trucks have been squared away, it's time to focus our attention onto their passenger-friendly companions, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon (above).
Our spy photographers have passed along a huge smattering of photos (and a video), showing the new SUVs out testing. Both the short- and long-wheelbase models were spied, and while the overall shape of the vehicles hasn't changed all that much, we expect the updates to be substantial. In addition to new powertrain options, like GM's new small-block V8, we expect the interiors of both SUVs to get massive makeovers, providing better materials throughout their cabins and quieter, more refined environments. We even hear that some trick new suspension developments may be in store for upper-end models.
Visually, these spy shots allow us to see a couple of new details on the SUVs' front and rear fascias, including LED running lamps on the Yukon and some interesting LED taillamp treatments. Of course, the obvious third party missing from this set of photos is the Cadillac Escalade, but as we reported earlier, GM is working to further differentiate the 'Slade from the rest of the fullsize SUV lineup, and is working to make the new model "much less ostentatious."
