Update 1/11/14 10:00 pm. I've had people asking about rust, so I went down and pulled the floor mats out of it and checked it out. The subframe looks good. I didn't find any rust problems there. The floor is still pretty solid, but it does have some rust through. Both rear floors - at the fee of the back seat occupants, have an inch or so diameter hole. On the driver's side someone has drilled a couple holes and strung a wire through it to hold up the exhaust system -- pretty fancy! The driver's side front had flakey surface rust, but I didn't find any rust out. The pass. side front is by far the worst. The bottom edge where the firewall and floor meet has come lose due to rust. There is also several rust out holes all across it. It could possibly use a pan, but I believe it's repairable without one. I wouldn't use a pan on either of the back floors. If it'll let me add a picture or two of the rust I'll do so. The upper door hinge on the right front door is broken.  Also, where the window frame attaches on the top, back of the door it has come lose. There is a significant dent on the pass. side rear door as well, and a dent on the right rear quarter. The glass is all there except the pass. front door glass and the tailgate glass. It has an inline 6 engine in it and a bell housing, but the transmission is gone.  Keep asking questions...

This is one of several cars I hauled in a couple years ago so I don't know very much about it. Basically, what you see is what you get.  I can take additional pictures and check out specific items for you if you're interested.  It sat in an unprotected, abandoned storage area behind a dealership for at least 30 years. It's actually a pretty straight old car with, in my opinion, a huge amount of potential.  I just don't have the time, ability, and interest to do anything with it. While loading it to bring it in, its bad passenger-side front door got tweaked and the door glass shattered. The windshield has a couple chips in it, but it could be used as is.

Please do your homework before bidding on this non-running vehicle.  I live just outside Blanding, UT, 84511 and it is pricey and difficult to get a shipper in here.  More than likely, shipping it any distance will cost you more than what you will probably be able to get the car for.  Assuming we don't get a lot of snow or rain, we should be able to get the car out without too much difficulty, especially with a good winch or roll-back. If weather does intervene, there is no problem with leaving it where it sits for some time.

This is a no-reserve auction, so, obviously, my starting price of $700 means that if I get one bid for that amount, then the car will sell.  I have no idea if I'm in the ballpark, so I'll let you, the buyers, decide what it's worth. If it's not worth that much to someone, then I'll have to reassess it and go from there.

I want a $200 deposit through Paypal within 48 hours of the close of the auction and then we can determine how the rest is to be paid off, depending on your pick up plans and so forth.

Once again, I only know what I've told you and what I can physically see about the car. I can take more pictures as needed or go down and check out specific parts/issues. Also, if you're in the vicinity and have interest, by all means, come and check it out yourself. Either email me through Ebay or call 435-459-0591 to discuss it or get more information.

I have a clear Utah title to it.

Next-gen GMC Sierra spied with diesel power

Tue, Sep 5 2017

The next generation of GM trucks is arriving soon, and we're expecting a huge leap forward over the current lineup. The Chevy Silverado and the GMC SIerra sell extremely well, but haven't done much to move the segment forward in a long time. The Ford F-150 has an all-aluminum body and turbocharged V6 power. The Ram 1500 gained a diesel and coil spring suspension. These spy shots show that diesel may be in the cards for GM. Some quick shots and copious use of flash show what is most likely a tank for diesel exhaust fluid and a diesel particulate filter, both necessary equipment for any modern diesel. It's unclear what form factor that engine will come in, though GM has a number of engines to choose from, including the 2.8-liter inline four that's found in the Colorado and Canyon, though that may be a little light duty for the Silverado and Sierra. Other rumors surrounding the trucks suggest a move to an aluminum cab while retaining a steel bed. That seems like a reasonable move for GM, even if the company was attempting to shame Ford for its move to aluminum a few years ago. Look for more news as early as the Detroit Auto Show in January. U.S. new-vehicle sales in 2018 rise slightly to 17.27 million [UPDATE]

Thu, Jan 3 2019

DETROIT — Sales of new vehicles in the U.S. rose slightly in 2018, defying predictions and highlighting a strong economy. Automakers reported an increase of 0.3 percent over a year ago to 17.27 million vehicles. The increase came despite rising interest rates, a volatile stock market, and rising car and truck prices that pushed some buyers out of the new-vehicle market. Industry analysts and automakers said strong economic fundamentals pushed up sales and should keep them near historic highs in 2019. "Economic conditions in the U.S. are favorable and should continue to be supportive of vehicle sales at or around their current run rate," Ford Chief Economist Emily Kolinski Morris said after the company and other automakers announced their sales numbers Thursday. That auto sales remain near the 2016 record of 17.55 million is a testimonial to the strength of the economy, said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics. The job market, he said, has created new employment, and wage growth has accelerated. "That's fundamental to selling anything," he said. "If there are lots of jobs and people are getting bigger paychecks, they will buy more." The unemployment rate is 3.7 percent, a 49-year low. The economy is thought to have grown close to 3 percent last year, its best performance in more than a decade. Consumers, the main driver of the economy, are spending freely. The Federal Reserve raised its key interest rate four times in 2018 but is only expected to raise it twice this year. Auto sales also were helped by low gasoline prices and rising home values, Zandi said. It all means that people are likely to keep buying new vehicles this year even as they grow more expensive. The Edmunds.com auto-pricing site estimates that the average new vehicle price hit a record $35,957 in December, about 2 percent higher than the previous year. It will be harder for automakers to keep the sales pace above 17 million because they have been enticing buyers for several years now with low-interest financing and other incentives, Zandi said. He predicts more deals in the coming year as job growth slows and credit tightens for higher-risk buyers. Edmunds, which provides content, including automotive tips and reviews, for distribution by The Associated Press, predicts that sales will drop this year to 16.9 million.

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
