Here is a fine example of a very clean Monte SS. It is a numbers matching car with the original build sheet. It has the original drive train in it. The engine has been rebuilt as well as the trans with Grand National valve body and shift points. The trans shifts nice and crisp but not harsh.
I also De computerized the car but kept all pigtails intact if someone would like to change it back. I installed a vacume operated converter lock up switch, it has the original intake on it with Holley carb, aftermarket HEI ignition, Edlebrock TES headers with custom true duels, again, nice sound but not loud. I replace the doors with Arizona rust free doors, the car has the original quarters on it, the car was stripped to bare metal and repainted and I installed new stripes and SS logos. These are as the originals in color and size, I only neglected to add the original 85 wheel lip stripe on the rear quarters so people can see how clean this car is. The floors, frame rails, rear trunk pan are as new with no repairs. I installed QT pads in the interior ( like dyna mat ) I put a new GM Nose on it as the original was shrunk, it has new radiator, and a stainless steel front nose baffle. The air works, only the cruise is in operative due to a failed pulse pick up sensor behind the speedo. The interior is super clean and the car is super quiet in the cabin and tracks straight and true. The paint is about 7 years old and the car looks stunning in the original color paint. I used PPG exclusively and the car looks just like it did after it was done. The car is always in a heated garage. It has around 8500 miles on the rebuild. One power door lock actuator is acting up and works sometimes, It has a minute tear in the drivers seat very minute. The weather stripping is in good condition I did not replace it. Check out the pictures and feel free to ask any questions you may have. I am selling this car because it is not being used any more. I built it for my wife and we are building a 74 Roadrunner to take the Monte's place. The car is quite capable of being driven anywhwre, you can feel comfortable flying in and driving home. There are a host of things I did to this car but to long of a list to mention. feel free to contct me for more info. Also if you are the winning bidder I require a deposit of 500 dollars through pay pal unless you contact me and make other arrangements. Please, if you do not intend to purchase please do not bid. If you have little or no feedback you must contact me in order to bid or I will cancel your bid.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles
Tue, 06 Aug 2013General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
