This a one owner car, I bought it in August of 87 and still have the window sticker. It has always been a daily driver until about 3 years ago. I bought a new car and put this one in the garage. It has been well mantained. (I am a mechanic of 30 yrs) All service work and repairs have been done by me. It has not been in any major accidents. The front bumper cover has been replaced twice. Once from a minor fender bender, the second time due to a deer hit. Had to replace the right front fender on the deer hit as well. All parts were OEM. It has had a few door dings fixed too. I had a complete all over paint job done before the deer hit about 6 or 7 years ago. For some reason the paint did not take to the new bumper cover and is peeling off. About 3 years ago I had a second deer hit on the drivers door and rear quarter panel and from that I tapped a guard rail on the right side. (minor damage from that and have not been fixed) The tranmission is original, the engine is not. In 87 there was a problem with eng blocks cracking in the lifter valley area and letting coolant in. Well, I got 116k out of mine before it happened to me. Replaced the 185hp 305 with a 330hp 350 GM Performance eng. Added MSD distribitor, MSD ignition box, headers, performance cat. converter, stainless steel exhaust. It looks completely stock when you open the hood. It runs very well. I also have new in the box, a GM Performance port fuel injection system that would boost the hp to 350 or more. The interior is in good shape, some sun fade. The dash pad is cracked and I have a new headliner panel for the area behind the T-Tops. The T-Tops do not leak but the rear window will sometimes. Had it fixed a couple of times but, only last for a couple of years. Has a new radio with cd player. I have the original radio but, it stopped working. I also have the T-Top bags and new trunk liner. I may have new weather stripping for the doors and windows. I will have to look for it.

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.

Callaway debuts its new C7 Stingray at National Corvette Museum

Fri, 02 May 2014

Callaway showed off its first tuned version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the National Corvette Museum last week, giving the rampant enthusiasts of America's sports car a look at the roughly 620-horsepower, supercharged rocket.
Unlike the Corvette SC610 we showed you back in January, this Stingray packs a fair bit more oomph. Horsepower is only up ten ponies, but torque has jumped from 556 pound-feet to "at least" 600 pound-feet. Neither horsepower nor torque is official quite yet, although Callaway is expecting to know just what its creation can do once testing and validation is completed later this month.
The 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 now boasts a new, three-element intercooler, which Callaway claims only allowed the inlet air temperature to increase by ten degrees Fahrenheit during dyno runs. Previous designs saw a 35-degree-Fahrenheit jump. The exhaust system has also been fettled with, and now is even less restrictive.

GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
