Up for auction, is a 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe. I purchased this car three and a half years ago from Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord North Carolina. I purchased this car because as a 17 year old I bought an '87 Monte Carlo SS, and was attempting to re-live the past. Since I have owned it, I have put 500 miles on the car, hence the auction. This car has 15,000 original miles and appears to be 100% original down to the spark plugs. It runs and drives excellent and all options are in perfect working order, including the ice cold air conditioning. The only additions to the car were on it when I purchased it, which include an alarm system with remote keyless entry and Flowmaster mufflers. The tone is a few decibels above stock, not very loud at all. It has never seen winter, snow, salt, much less rain. I have not washed the car with water since owning it. There is NO rust on this car. Paint condition is 9.5 out of 10, I took 0.5 off because it could use polishing. Interior condition 9.5 out of 10, I took 0.5 off because there is a foot mark on the driver side carpet beside the gas pedal. Engine compartment is 10 out of 10 completely original. Undercarriage is 9 out of 10, as it has 15,000 miles on it. This car will not disappoint, as it is essentially a brand new car. IT NEEDS NOTHING. This car was purchased brand new at Dale Earnhardt Chev Olds and was in Alabama, Florida, Virginia and ended up in North Carolina where I bought it. This is 1 of 6052 produced in 1987 for Nascar rules, they did not produce this car in 1988 which was the final year for the G body. I will answer all questions to the best of my ability. I will send specific pictures if required, by email or text. The car is appraised currently at $23,000 Cdn. It is insured for that amount at $240/year through Hagerty Insurance. You are welcome to come and inspect the car personally or call anytime. Mike 905 690 4820. I am always available, so shipping, pick up, trailering, transport will not be an issue. Buyer is responsible for ALL shipping.

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.

Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes

Tue, 28 Aug 2012

Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.
