This Impala is a 2 door sport coupe. the body is in great shape and the engine and under side of the car is very clean with no rust. There has been lots of improvements made to the car and they are the chevy 350 engine has a mild Crane cam and camel back heads, Edelbrock manifold with a Edelbrock carb. K&N air filiter,Accel HEI distributor,Accel spark plugs,Taylor spark plug wires, chrome valve covers, chrome Alternator, chrome power steering pump ,circle track steering box, Be Cool Aluminum Radiator, chrome water pump, chrome pulleys, chrome fan blade, 180degree thermostat and a Electric fan. The Impala runs very cool and never had a heating problem with it. the Hedmon headers are treated to keep down engine heat. There has been lots of ARP fastens used on the enging. The oil is changed before every driving season with a excellent grade of oil. A new NAPPA 12V. battery has been installed in 2012. now to the Tubro 350 transmission, it is a TCI Street Fighter with a shift kit and a stall convertor installed also there is a tranny cooler in front of the radiator. The transmission is shifted with a floor mounted B&M mega ratchet type cable shifter. The front end has a Fatman 2 1/2 drop spindle  added with disk brakes. New front shocks have been added and air shocks for the rear. The car is a dream to drive and the ride is really smooth. The front tires are  Toyo Spectrums P205/65R15 92T high speed, and the rears are BF Goodrich P235/60R15 on centerline.wheels.  The interior has been redone with a tuck and roll leather like fabric with buttons on the seats in front and rear. The headliner has been replaced also. The floor carpet is in very good cond and has floor mats to keep it that way. There has been a Custom Sound AM/FM cassette player installed where the stock radio was in the dash. and Kenwood rear speakers placed in the back and also under the front seat. So there are no holes in the kick panels. There has been noise reducing pads put in the back to help keep the inside of the car quiet. Also a Summit brand temp. and oil gauge have been added. The oil pressure at idle is 46# and temp runs about 170+/- degs on a hot day. There are purple neons lights under both sides and back which look fantastic at night, it really give the Impala a neat look. The trunk has a carpet in it now due to the original one fell apart. The original spare tire and jack is still there. The car has been kept in a garage and with a calif. brand car cover on it when not being driven. The Impala  was repainted about 10 years ago with a top grade of paint and a clear coat was added to the car, and not only looks great but drives the same way and is ia very safe and dependable car that will seat 3 in front and 4 in the back and still have some room to move. If you are looking for a junk car then this one is not for you, I drive it very offen and it needs to go to someone who will take of it and drive it more.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

Corvette Stingray designer lists five goals of new exterior shape

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

Redesigning an icon is a difficult task, especially when you've got a blank sheet of paper in front of you and the all-new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is intended to be your final objective.
General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
