1964 Chevy Impala SS 409/425 HP 2x4 4 Speed.

Newly restored. First-rate bodywork gives it a factory fresh look, and all the panels are crisp, detailed, and wave-free. Panel gaps are excellent throughout, and the build quality is evident even in the photos The paint is two-stage urethane and the finish is miles deep, a pure white with a brilliant shine that should last for decades given the right care. The '50s were over, and the cars of the early '60s were restrained in their use of chrome and trim. The grille is simple, framing quad headlights. The SS models received that cool engine-turned strip of trim running the length of the body. Correct new Impala SS badges are on the rear quarters, and the front fenders proudly wear '409' emblems, perhaps as a warning. In the early days of the horsepower wars, the dual-quad 409 was king. There was simply nothing else on the road that could touch its 425 horsepower, and in the Impala SS coupe, it was powerful enough to yank buildings off their foundations. Fresh and exceptionally well detailed, the engine bay in this car has "show winner" written all over it. From the chrome air cleaner with twin snorkels, to the Chevy Orange paint that's as good as the paint on my daily driver, to the unique 409 valve covers, it is sanitary and brilliantly executed. Finishes on all the ancillary components are correct, and the exhaust headers are some of the best. The hoses wear correct GM markings and wear tower hose clamps, the radiator is freshly restored, and even the hood pad is brand new. Honestly, until you've driven a dual quad 409, you haven't lived. The only transmission you want with your 409 is a 4-speed top off with a Hurst shifter, which feels like industrial machinery it's so precise and sturdy. The chassis has been completely restored, with a solid X-type frame and freshly rebuilt components present throughout. A new factory dual exhaust system. New shocks, freshly installed disc brake on the front, power steering and tilt steering make it a pleasure to drive, and it truly does cruise effortlessly at highly illegal speeds. Wheels are 18-inch Ridler wheels. A full set of the original SS wheel covers and the front drum brakes will be included with the purchase of the 64. The interior is simply beautiful, dressed in red to contrast the exterior. Pure '60s elegance all the way, with a sporty vibe, that was the Impala SS. The red buckets are in great condition as well as all of the door panels which house the electric window switches. The red carpets are also new with the correct weave and nap. A 7000 RPM 409 tachometer is installed in its own pod atop the steering column, which is about the coolest factory gauge installation you'll find. Stretching across the driver's side of the instrument panel, the restored speedometer shows crisp numbers and a crystal clear lens. Down low, another engine-turned panel houses the switch gear and the original AM radio, and matches the center console. All the correct SS badging is included, with emblems on the console and door panels.. In back, the spatter finish on the trunk floors and walls is correct, and it is protected by new mats. A matching full-sized spare and complete jack assembly finish the nicely appointed trunk. There's no question that these Impalas are surging forward in the market, and the top of the heap will always be the SS 409. With a hugely expensive, fresh restoration, this one is ready to show and enjoy and only you'll know what a bargain you got when you bought it. Lovely to look at and thrilling to drive, there's nothing else that drives like a 409, and even the handsome Impala sheet metal can't hide its performance car DNA. Compare this one to some lesser examples, and you'll see that this is a whole heck of a lot of car for not a lot of money.

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky

Fri, 24 Aug 2012

It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.
