1959 Chevrolet Kingswood Station Wagon Chevy Brookwood Nomad Automatic on 2040-cars
Sebastopol, California, United States
Regretfully, we are selling our 1959 Chevrolet Kingswood
Wagon with rear-facing third row seat. Rare straight, unmolested body. So pretty. Not chopped or altered, though this is not a stock vehicle. It has a Chevy
350 engine that I have never run the serial number on. It has an aluminum automatic tranny from a 1961 Chevy
Impala, not the cast-iron original which was a dog to work on. Runs great.
Seatbelts installed on all three rows, so she’s very kid
friendly. My plan was to install a
crate engine and tranny, but it didn’t
work out. That said, there’s nothing wrong with what’s inside right now. I’ve driven this thing the length of California and find it a trustworthy vehicle when toting up to 9 kids in this beautiful beast! Here are the issues: Speedometer, gas gauge (needs sending unit), radio, horn. All three controls work for back window, but it seems to be getting hung up on the runners, which need to be replaced. But that little motor is just fine. Oh, ashtray keeps falling open. The interior is in great shape, BUT they used Impala material to complete. The good news is that they did a great job (try to find original Kingswood upholstery). At least they kept it in the family. Paint is in very good shape, though there are some chips; very pretty. No rust holes in floor. Floor is solid, even in the third row. All seats collapse as intended into a huge cargo area. All glass is perfect. We will be adding engine and interior pics sooner than later along with some additional info. A great ride and a real head turner; this is a beautiful car that needs some TLC. But, not much, really. A rare offering, particularly in this condition. Inspections are welcome. Buyer arranges shipping. We will cooperate on this end to help pick-up go smoothly. We reserve the right to end this listing before end date as vehicle is for sale locally and featured in other media. Vehicle is sold AS IS. No warranty. PLEASE ask your questions in time for us to answer them. |

There once was a time when Daewoo was one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It was larger than both LG and Samsung, and second only to Hyundai. But these days the name is all but gone.
Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green
Fri, 01 Mar 2013With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
Chevrolet Captiva looks mildly refreshed and ready for family duty
Tue, 05 Mar 2013We showed you Chevrolet's major debut yesterday, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, but General Motors is making a big push for Bowtie consideration in Europe, so it's also introducing the updated Captiva crossover here at the Geneva Motor Show.
While still based on the same platform as North America's fleet-only Captiva Sport (which is effectively a rebadged Saturn Vue), the Captiva is available in both five- and seven-seat iterations, and it looks far more modern. That's particularly the case with this updated model, which features revamped front- and rear ends that include restyled bumpers, grilles and LED taillamps, among other changes.
As before, the midsize Theta-platform CUV will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and is expected to carry a range of four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Important US programming note: Chevrolet sources tell us that America's Captiva Sport will not receive these updates.
