This is in 90% Great condition! The heat and A/C seem to work. The tires have 80% tread left there are no flaws in the interior and the headliner was just professionally redone! The radio is still the original AM/FM that it came with from the factory. The spare tire is in great shape and is a full size spare not the usual doughnut spare. There are no tears or cracks in the upholstery. I use this as a daily driver and have never had a single problem!! The engine is strong and was rebuilt at the 100,000 mile mark so its exactly what the 5 digit odometer reads. The transmission shifts smoothly and has never clunked or hit hard. the brakes were recently bled and a new master cylinder was installed. I have also replaced the coolant hose that comes off the top of the radiator. The next thing I'm going to replace is the choke pull-off on the carburetor which just makes you have to start it twice on a cold start. After this is done that will no longer be a problem of course. The bed was painted just like it comes from the factory, it has some chips in the paint but NO RUST!. The paint was redone about 10 years ago and has been mostly garage kept in that time. I recently took it to a car show and it placed 6th out of all the cars that were out there. This is a NO rust car which is extremely hard to find with an El Camino. There is one area where the paint cracked on the drivers side in the rear behind the gas door. There is also a dent on the passenger side behind the door right at the bottom of the body. When the weather is cold the speedometer cable squeaks but this could easily be fixed by lubricating the cable. There is also an exhaust leaks that is slightly audible but nothing major. When spring rolls around if the car is not sold I planned on just replacing all the pipes and mufflers. It doesn't need to be done but it was just something I planned on doing.

Hagerty appraises this car at $13,600!

New Bright creating exclusive 1:8 scale radio-controlled C7 Corvette

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

If you want a new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette but can't quite save up enough pennies for the monthly payment, we have good news for you. Toymaker New Bright has pulled the covers off of its 1:8 scale remote-controlled version of the American sports car. Complete with a very detailed interior and LED headlights, this large-scale R/C is as close as most of us will ever come to having one of the menacing Chevrolet models to call our very own. New Bright still hasn't released pricing or availability, but word has it the coupe should hit the market soon.
Right now, it appears as if the C7 will hit shelves in Torch Red, though we don't know if other colors are planned as well. The good news is that New Bright isn't exactly turning its back on the old C6 - representatives say the company will continue to make its popular C6R racecar for those who prefer round taillights.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
