UP FOR AUCTION; BEAUTIFUL '96 VETTE CONVERTIBLE. THIS VETTE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, STILL WEARING IT'S ORIGINAL GLOSSY BLACK PAINT. IT HAS SEVERAL SMALL NICKS ON THE HOOD, JUST ROAD RASH FROM 18 YEARS OF USE, AND A FEW SMALL SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE, NOTHING SEVERE. I COULD NOT GET THEM TO SHOW UP IN ANY PHOTOS. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP IS NEW, INCLUDING A GLASS REAR WINDOW WITH REAR DEFOGGER. THE WHEELS ARE FROM A C5 ZO6 VETTE, WITH THE TIRES HAVING PLENTY OF TREAD REMAINING. A PREVIOUS OWNER HAD A HIGH PERFORMANCE EXHAUST SYSTEM INSTALLED, AND IT SOUNDS AWESOME!! I THINK IT'S A BORLA SYSTEM, BUT DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. RECENT BRAKES AND TUNE-UP MAKE THIS ONE GREAT RUNNING AND DRIVING VETTE. WOULD NOT HESITATE TO TAKE IT ACROSS THE COUNTRY ON A ROAD TRIP! THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND THE UNDERCARRIDGE ARE CLEAN! THE INTERIOR IS ALSO IN EXCELLENT CONDITION! THE BLACK LEATHER SEATS ARE NEAR PERFECT, WITH JUST SOME VERY MINOR WEAR TO BE EXPECTED FROM AN 18 YEAR OLD. ALL OTHER INTERIOR APPOINTMENTS ARE PERFECT, INCLUDING THE DASH, DOOR PANELS, CARPETING, AND CENTER CONSOLE. EVEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND SHIFTER SHOW VERY LITTLE WEAR! ALL INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS WORK. ALL SWITCHES, GAUGES, AND DASH LIGHTING WORK. THE ORIGINAL AM/FM CD & CASSETTE STILL WORKS PERFECTLY, WITH THE REAR SPEAKERS RECENTLY REPLACED WITH OEM PIECES. THE AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL WORKS PERFECTLY, WITH THE A/C BLOWING COLD AND THE HEAT BLOWING HOT! EVERYTHING, AND I MEAN EVERYTHING, ON THIS VETTE WORKS AS NEW. THERE ARE NO ISSUES, SUCH AS CHECK ENGINE LAMP, ETC... OTHER THEN THE FACT THAT THIS VETTE HAS 47OOO MILES AND IS 18 YEARS OLD, IT LOOKS, DRIVES, AND FEELS LIKE NEW! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! I HAVE THE RESERVE SET BETWEEN NADA'S NUMBER TWO AND NUMBER THREE CONDITION PRICING, EVEN THOUGH IT'S REALLY A NUMBER TWO CONDITION VETTE. I HAVE TRIED TO DESCRIBE THIS VETTE AS BEST I CAN, HOWEVER,PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK OVER THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY, AND IF POSSIBLE, COME AND SEE THIS VETTE FOR YOURSELF. IF THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE DUE TO DISTANCE, I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST HIRING A PROFESSIONAL APPRAISER TO INSPECT IT. PLEASE BE SURE, IF YOU ARE BIDDING ON IT, THAT YOUR FINANCING IS IN PLACE, THAT YOUR WIFE/HUSBAND/PARTNER/PARENT IS ON BOARD, AND THAT YOU ARE COMMITTED TO FINALIZING THE DEAL UPON WINNING THE AUCTION. A WINNING BID IS CONSIDERED A BINDING CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BUYER AND SELLER. SHIPPING IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER, ALTHOUGH I'M WILLING TO ASSIST IN LOGISTICS. PLEASE NOTE, THIS VETTE IS 18 YEARS OLD, AND SO IT IS NOT PERFECT. THIS VETTE IS BEING SOLD AS-IS, WITH NO WARRANTY, EITHER WRITTEN NOR IMPLIED. THANK YOU FOR VIEWING MY VETTE, AND HAPPY BIDDING!!

2016 Chevrolet Camaro First Drive [w/video]
Fri, Oct 16 2015The Autoblog gang was downright stoked to learn the 2016 Chevy Camaro was next on our test-car docket. Then we found out it was the V6 model. Buzzkill. We were hoping for the snorting V8, or at least the spunky new turbo four-cylinder. The V6? Meh. We've been driving V6 Camaros for, like, six years. It's what you buy if you can't afford anything better, or so say horsepower snobs as they wrinkle their noses and cut their coffee with 93 octane. But after a week with the six-pot Camaro, we'll admit it: we were wrong. The all-new 3.6-liter V6 is strong, sounds good, and is damn fun to drive. Its 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque appear modest by modern standards, but they power the Camaro to 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds with the automatic, or in the case of our manual-equipped test car, 5.2 seconds. That's almost half a second quicker than the new turbo four-cylinder model. Yes, it has the same displacement as the old V6. No, it's not the same engine. Upon closer inspection, the V6's potency shouldn't come as a surprise. This engine is from General Motors' newest family of dual-overhead cam powerplants that launched in the Cadillac CTS and ATS. Yes, it has the same displacement as the old V6. No, it's not the same engine. Don't be fooled, and don't underestimate it at stoplights. The strapping V6 is unsuspectingly good, but it's just one of many improvements for the sixth-generation Camaro. Chevy's coupe is lighter, faster, and more modern looking inside and out. It starts with a rear-wheel-drive chassis donated from the Cadillac ATS, though about 70 percent of the components are unique to the Camaro. The 2016 model is about two inches shorter in length (thanks to a shorter wheelbase) and about an inch has been removed from height and width compared to the 2015 model. These lighter underpinnings jumpstarted the Camaro's weight-loss plan, and thanks to extensive use of aluminum, the V6 with the new eight-speed automatic transmission weighs 3,435 pounds – 294 less than its predecessor (the manual-transmission V6 Camaro weighs 3,448 pounds). The V8, meanwhile, sheds 223 pounds. One by one, these elements would merely enhance how the Camaro drives, but taken collectively, they invigorate the new model. It feels much more confident and agile in all circumstances. Put simply, it's a sportier car. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut
Mon, 28 Jan 2013While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
