1991 Chevrolet Corvette Base Hatchback 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Lockport, New York, United States
The car was delivered to Harrison Radiator in Lockport, NY in 1991 as a wind tunnel test car where heating and cooling testing were done on the car for 17,257 miles. I purchased the car through the Harrison Radiator employee purchase program in 1991 and have been the only owner of the car since. The car currently has 57,000 miles on it. The transmission is automatic. The paint finish is Turquoise Metallic and is one of 1,621 that year. The finish on the car is in excellent condition. The car has dual power leather seats with lumbar support on both. Within the last four years, the following items have been repaired/replaced: FX3 ride control shocks, hatch cylinders (both), fuel injectors and tune up also completed. The head liner was replaced in 2013. I have all the repair receipts/records since I have owned the car as well as the dealer brochure. I also have a car cover and bra included with the sale of the car. The car has never seen snow, and rarely seen rain. It is only driven six months of the year, and is stored in a heated garage on jack stands and covered. Serious inquiries only, please. If you have any further questions about the car, please e-mail me and I will respond as soon as possible. This car has been enjoyed and loved as evidenced by the excellent condition. Thank you for checking my listing. |

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows
Wed, 13 Mar 2013While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.
Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.
