Up for auction is our 1982 Collector Edition Corvette, we started to fix this up for my wife but have too many irons in the fire to complete it. There were 6,759 of these cars made in 1982. This car has a clear Oregon title, the crossfire injection motor was rebuilt (numbers matching long block) by Portland Engine Rebuilders (Larson and King). The rest of the engine assembly and installation was done by an ASE Certified mechanic. The engine has not been fired since being rebuilt.  We purchased this car as a project, we have not ever tried the power stuff (windows, locks, seat, etc.)

The car comes with the new in the box GM mirrored glass T-Top panels, we have purchased two new wheels with center caps, the a/c condenser was tested (it's good) and repainted. We installed a new carpet kit, there are new carpet pieces for the seat backs as well. The factory standard options are: Original leather interior (in decent condition), power driver seat, power radio antenna, storage compartment cover, air conditioning, power windows and locks, cruise control, disc brakes and a lighted vanity mirror for the passenger side. All 1982 Corvettes had an automatic transmission, manual transmissions were not available in 1982. Rear glass hatch window *****

The car still needs to finish being assembled, it needs a new windshield, and radiator. The body of the car is in great shape, it should be repainted to look really great but it is ok for a driver. This will be a great car, it just needs some assembly.

**** All of the shocks, latches and such are in the car for the rear hatch glass, however we do not have the correct glass for the car. We do have a standard non hatch glass for the rear. The standard glass can be installed while you track down the hatch style glass piece.

Please contact us with any questions. If there is an area you would like a photo of that is not shown in this listing, please let us know. Buyer is responsible for transportation of the Corvette after the auction has ended. Buyer has 30 days to remove the car from our property. $500 non refundable deposit is due at auction end via Pay Pal, we prefer to have the balance paid in cash.  Local delivery can be arranged within 100 miles of Portland Oregon for an extra fee.  We are not selling this car with a warranty or any guarantee given or implied.

Thank you for looking and good luck.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
