Up for bid is a 1965 Monza coupe with 110 hp engine, four speed transmission and one bottoms up lift.  This car was purchased by me in 1968 for school and part time job. Attending college in the fall of 1972, the car was stored in my parents attached garage and remained there until the spring of 1979. State inspected for the year 1979-80 I enjoyed driving the car for the summer at the end of which it was tucked away in my heated garage where it has remained until present day . Originally ermine white, this car was painted red as a graduation present from my parents. Never in an accident, the body is in excellent condition with no dings or rusty holes. Question anyone who has restored a car and most often the number one item on their "I hate list" is dealing with rusted out panels.  All glass is original and damage free. Optional bumper guards dealer installed. Chrome strip with rubber seal that divides door glass from quarter windows along with door sills, exterior chrome and stainless trim are very nice with the exception of the wheel well trim and front trunk bar. As a replacement for these items, you will receive with your winning bid, one mint 1965 GM NOS front trunk bar, unique to 1965, and one complete ten piece set of wheel well trim, also unique to the 1965 model year. Still in their protective sleeves, this set is a beautiful Clark reproduction and to me, nicer than NOS.  The trunk shows some visible surface rust but is solid and the gas tank shows no signs of leakage or rust through. Engine and transmission were in running order when stored in 1980 and turns freely by hand.  Originally planning to restore this coupe before my two convertibles, I removed a small portion of paint from the top right rear fender to determine the quality of the under surface. Still in excellent condition is the original factory brown primer. Everything on this car is factory original with the exception of the red paint, carpet and radio antenna.  Due to age, the tires are unsafe so I am including four brand new 6.50 80R/13 radial tires mounted and balanced with stickers still attached. Repack the front bearings, lube the rear universals, and tow it anywhere. Spare tire and jack are NOT included in this sale.  As for the bottoms up lift, it was bought new and was used to restore my convertibles. It is in excellent condition, rated at 3000 pounds, and balanced for the corvair.  Attach the car, jack it up, and with two hands spin it and lock it at any angle you wish. Lift is equipped with a draw bar and was easily pulled in and out of my garage for " work in the sun" using a simplicity riding mower.  If distance allows, I welcome your inspection of this car in person or by representative before placing a bid. Any and all questions will be answered promptly.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....

Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.

Watch the live reveal of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra [UPDATE]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

UPDATE: The trucks have been revealed. Click here for all of the official details.
As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.
