66 CORSA CONVERT
We have owned this car for 19 years. I restored this car while I ran a Corvair parts business located in Phoenix AZ.It has always been garaged. The Car is located in Cottonwood AZ 86326 which is about 90 miles north of Phoenix AZ. My phone number is 928-202-8654. I would recommend a call before you bid. You need to understand the terms of this sale and I would be glad to describe the car and explain any other details related to this sale. I would rate the car as a very nice driver. It is NOT a show car! We have driven the car reliably in and out of the state of Arizona. It has been driven to local and national Corvair events all without any incidents whatsoever. The car has the usual minor dings from 19 years worth of use. I have included detailed images of the car as well as videos accurately describing the car.
If you are not a serious bidder or are not financially able to complete the transaction please step aside!
There is NO WARRANTY expressed or implied! This is a 46 year old car! This is also a cash deal! No loans! No bank drafts! No checks! This is a cash and drive transaction. If you are not willing or able to abide by these terms please step aside! You are making a serious purchase for a serious car please be courteous. Thank you!
Now lets describe the car.
The car war was originally a beige on beige 66 Corsa. I did the restoration 19 years ago. All of the options were added as these items came through the Corvair shop. All mechanicals were done at that time. Engine rebuild with TRW forged pistons, trans axle was dissembled cleaned and resealed, front end was rebuilt with all new upper lower bushings and ball joints, rear wheel bearing assys were disassembled cleaned and resealed, U joints, transmission and rear motor mounts, steering box has been cleaned and resealed, new engine perimeter seal, etc, etc. Please contact me if you have questions about the mechanicals I am available at 928-202-8654 during sane hours. The car does not leak and or use excessive amounts of oil as the videos and photos will attest. The interior components were obtained from Clarks Corvair. The body work and paint were outsourced.
Here is a list of the options currently installed on the car.
- Bumper Guards
- Trunk Light
- Gas Door Guard
- 64-65-66? Remote Control Mirror
- Factory Floor Mat
- Power Folding Top
- Telescopic Steering Column
- Simulated Wood Wheel
- Factory AM/FM Pushbutton Radio
- Air Conditioning Factory Components (not factory installed)
- Soft Ray Glass
- Engine Bay Light
- Top Boot
- Factory Locking Gas Cap
This is NOT a trailer queen!
Please take the time to watch, enjoy the videos and view the pictures. It really is a nice investment car.

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.
Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica
Fri, 03 Aug 2012If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.
Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
