1978 Chevrolet Cheyenne "big Ten" Chevy Truck Classic Pickup . Original Survivor on 2040-cars
Klickitat, Washington, United States
Up for Auction Today is my 1978 Chevy Cheyenne Big Ten. I bought this Truck from the second owner in the small town where I live. The first owner owned it from new till 1981 when he traded it in @ a Dealer in The Dalles Oregon, The owner I bought it from owned it from 1981 till This Summer When I purchased it. All The people in Klickitat Wa. where I live and found the truck say the first owner never left town with it the time he owned it. (Klickitat is about 1 mile long.) The owner I bought it from said he drove it to the dalles about 1 time a month from 1981-1992 when he parked it with a transmission leak. He swore up and down it has 21,000 miles but I have no proof of that, So Im selling it as mileage unknown! This is a big ten Model which means its a 1/2 ton with 3/4 ton chassis. Google Big Ten Chevy and it will give you a couple page explanation of this package. Truck Runs really well as it should and the transmission has been removed, inspected and resealed by a professional mechanic. He also installed a stage 1 shift kit while he was re installing it. Truck does puff a tiny bit of smoke upon start up but vanishes almost instantly. i believe is a dried out valve seal causing it. it does not use oil at all though. I had a Factory 1978 Chevrolet tailpipe/muffler installed in august. Tires have 600 miles on then and cost me $860.00 I also had wheels powder coated at same time. belt, radiator, hoses have all been replaced. Truck has cruise control but needs cable from speedo to cruise box. right know theres a speedo cable from trans to speedo. vehicle is equipt. with air condioning but needs recharged. system is complete though. Interior is in great shape but will need a seat cover as its starting to split at seems. headliner sags so it needs to be re glued or replaced. dash is nice but speaker grill cracked this winter. I've driven this truck about 2000 miles since purchase and its been very reliable. It also has brand new battery.Body has been lightly polished and waxed.Comes with nice used factory gm grille that needs a new bow tie. I'm only selling because I'm having one of my kidneys removed on march 27 and need money for bills while I'm off. Please feel Free to call me with any questions (I really encourage it) . DO NOT BID TO LOOK AT VEHICLE, YOUR BIDDING TO OWN THIS NICE UNMOLESTED TRUCK. THIS TRUCK IS NOT PERFECT BUT I BELIEVE IT TO BEEN IN VERY GOOD SHAPE AND WORTHY OF A RESTORATION.

Chevy rolls out Silverado HD High Country
Wed, 09 Apr 2014It's been a good week for heavy-duty truck buyers. First, Ram revealed the Black Package for its HD trucks, then it rolled out its new Power Wagon, and now Chevy's getting in on the action with its Silverado High Country HD. Okay, so it may not pack quite the attitude of Ram's latest 2500-series offerings, but the High Country HD will come as a welcome addition to the Chevy Trucks range to those looking to pull their horse, boat or other trailer without skimping on creature comforts.
Rolled out a little under a year ago, the High Country trim is Chevy's answer to the likes of the GMC Denali, Ford King Ranch and Ram Longhorn. It has until now only been offered on the light duty, 1500-series Silverado, but now extends to the 2500 and 3500-series HD models, as well.
So what sets a High Country pickup apart from lesser Chevy trucks? You'll be able to pick it out based on its chrome horizontal grille, body-color bumpers, 6-inch tubular side steps, 20-inch chrome wheels (18-inch on the 3500 and 17-inch on the dualie) and, of course, plenty of special badging. But it's inside where the High Country makes its mark, with a cabin decked out in saddle brown perforated leather, seats that are both heated and cooled, eight-inch touchscreen with full MyLink suite, Bose audio and park assist functions front and rear to keep those color-keyed bumpers looking fresh. (Though Chevy hasn't yet showed us the interior of the HD model, it'll presumably look mostly the same as the cab in the 1500 High Country in the gallery below.)
Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs
Thu, 03 Jan 2013General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech
Tue, 24 Dec 2013The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
