1969 SS 396 Chevelle convertible! I bought this car late 2000 and this is what I know, was told it was restored in 1998 and the speedo was put at 0 it now has 8400 miles on it, I have put over 3000 of those on it. It has numbers matching rear end (original to car but posi added) numbers matching Turbo 400 trans (original to car) the engine is a real 1969 396 engine (feb. build date, car is late 1968 build) it has been decked in rebuild, was told it was a CE replacement for the car, but have no paperwork. I do have the POP and everything I have stated checks out. This car is really done right, I was told only NOS GM parts were used in the restoration and some crazy story about a $700 dollar NOS A/C hose. The engine compartment must be done perfect as every time I take it to a show guys take pic for their restoration. Everything works on the car but the A/C which did work when I got it but now it does not blow cold. I do have the front bumper guards and the 14" rallies with trim rings & white letter tiger paws on them (I like the 15" vette rallies better both go with car) I'm 6'4" and have add brackets so the front seat can go further back and recline as seen in the pics, they will be removed and it will be put back to stock. Color combo speaks for itself and is original colors for the car. I have added air bags to give it a bit of a higher stance (not much). The rosewood wheel is cracked at the top seam, car has the gauge pkg. white manual convertible top with glass window and everything else you see in pics. My collection has changed from old muscle to new muscle, this car was the best of the best of my old muscle collection as has been the hardest for me to let go, but a new Shelby is going to replace it after I sell it. You are more than welcome to come over and inspect the car or have an agent for you come I have a lift for your use. There is a little bubble in the paint on the upper passenger side rear quarter panel right next to the trunk lid, I have had body guys tell me they should be able to buff it out, but I didn't want to take the chance. Call with any questions, Brian 847-392-3330

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
