1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Coupe - Fresh Paint, Sounds Awesome! on 2040-cars

Year:1980 Mileage:75000
Location:

Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States

Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States

Offered here is a beautiful 1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, freshly painted and ready for summer. The original 305 was pulled from the car and replaced with a newer IROC Camaro 350ci V8, bored .30 and added mild cam. It has dual exhaust with headers and glass packs ending at the rear axle. It also has a 3.73 rear with limited slip differential plus new radiator, alternator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, vacuum lines, and a remanufactured QuadraJet carb. It offers a wonderful nostalgic driving experience and sounds sublime with the pedal down.

This car did not undergo a frame off restoration but all doors, deck lid, hood, trim and all flares were removed and refinished. The car was originally light green metallic from the factory but was professionally painted silver by previous owner’s preference, and it stands tall. Paint job is top class and lines are exceptionally clean. New cosmetic additions include new door rubber, instrument cluster, trunk seal, factory striping from Phenyx graffix, new sound-deadening carpet, and front/rear windshield trim clips. Everything else was thoroughly cleaned and precisely put back together from the original car. It’s not perfect by any means but it sure will turn some heads at stoplights.

Noteworthy features include the original Z28 course steering wheel, functioning Air Induction hood cowl, original factory slam shifter, power steering, and all gauges/lights work on the dash. This is no trailer queen but definitely worthy of any car show. It has great curb appeal and runs/drives as you’d expect from a tastefully modified second generation Camaro. One word: thrilling. These Z28’s are becoming more collectible meaning they are harder and harder to find, especially ones that look this good! At the price offered here, you don’t have to be bashful behind the wheel…or with your wallet.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

Next-gen Chevy Cruze caught cruising in the cold

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

Spy photographers have caught what looks like the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze out on snow patrol. The camo could be tricking our eyes, but it look like it has an even tidier, more rounded front end and even lower fenders in relation to the top of the hood. And either a chunk of camo has been wedged between the side mirrors and the doors, or the mirrors are up for revision, too.
The door handles have been moved up the side of the car, leading the way to a rear end that grows a bit in length. If the rumors are true, the coming second-generation Cruze sits on the new D2XX platform that will replace the Delta and Theta platforms at General Motors. A global architecture, the Cruze will be the first to get it, but it will underpin everything from next Chevrolet Volt to the Equinox and could be responsible for 2.5 million units by 2018. The next Cruze is expected to begin production in GM's Lordstown, Ohio plant in the third quarter of 2014.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
