1971 Chevrolet Camaro, 406 S.B. 500 H.P.  Let me start off by saying, if your looking for a Barrett Jackson show car than this isnt the car for you. This Camaro is a nice car to take to the local car cruises and to drive around and have fun with. Car came from Florida and has been in Michigan for 5 years. It has always been garage kept. Overall this Camaro is very solid. The paint is not perfect it has some chips and scratches here and there. I have owned alot of classic cars over the years and would rate the paint on this car about a 7 out of 10. Car is powered by a 406 small block with solid lift cam, camel back heads, Edelbrock aluminum air gap intake, Holley 650 carb, Hooker super comp headers with 3" exhaust and Warlock racing mufflers. Rear end is a 10 bolt with 488 gears. Transmission is a 350 turbo with a manual valve body and a B/M shifter. 16 gal fuel cell. 8x15 Rallys on the rear with 7x15 Rallys on the front mounted on B.F. goodrich tires. Interior has Bomz racing seats, no rear seats. Car has back half caged, the front bars have been cut out. All lights and turn signals work fine. There are no wipers or heater. Like I said before this isnt a show car but it is a nice street car thats perfect for the local car cruises. If your looking for a car to turn heads when you pull into the parking lot of your local bar or burger joint than this is your car. This 406 sounds awesome and the Warlock mufflers make this car really come alive when uncorked. Overall this is a great little car, the only issue I am having with it is that sometimes the trans doesnt shift into second when going through the gears. This may be an easy fix or even a linkage issue I really dont know. I am going to leave that up to the new owner. The motor in this car is very strong and sounds awesome. I can send a video through text if anybody is interested in hearing the car run, just send me your cell number. Feel free to ask any questions. Car is being sold as is with no warranty. Winning bidder is responsible for pickup or shipping of car. A 500 dollar deposit is required with in 24 hours of auction ending and full payment is due in 7 days. Dont miss out on this great little 1971 Camaro, bid to win. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding !!!

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

Pure Vision Design TT Camaro has 1,400 reasons to want it

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

We've talked about Pure Vision Design before, a California-based company that made waves at last year's SEMA show with its Martini-liveried, Indy-car-powered Ford Mustang. That same car later starred in a Petrolicious video we showed you just a few weeks back. The company's latest creation is a menacing car it calls the Pure Vision Design TT Camaro. Based on a 1972 model, this car shares the Martini Mustang's clean styling and obsession with details.
Unlike the Mustang, which draws its power from a mid-60s Lotus-Ford Indycar engine, the "TT" in this Camaro's name implies something far more potent. The Nelson Racing Engines 427-cubic-inch V8 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, with a claimed output of 1,400 horsepower. That's almost 1,000 more than the Martini Mustang.
A six-speed Magnum transmission dispatches that power to the ground, while Pirelli PZero tires are tasked with (somehow) trying to grip the road. Baer brakes hide behind those HRE rims, while JRI coilovers and HyperTech springs bless the Camaro with some degree of competency in the bends.
