1967 Camaro, not a true SS but is a red car. Car has been repainted once, original paint is on bottom of decklid. I don't believe it has ever had any metal replacement done. Appraiser said he could not find any filler with a magnet. I asked engine builder who worked on it for the two previous owners and he said he didn't think it had either. It is a very solid car. I pulled the frontend to change engine and it still had stamps on firewall from when the car was built. It has a fresh 415 small block, Eagle crank and rods, J&E pistons, new Dart Pro 1 heads, Comp Cams hyd. roller cam, roller rockers, Edelbrock intake, Holley HP carb, MSD ignition, engine made 520 hp on pump gas. New starter, fuel pump, Black magic electric fan, and alternator. Fresh 2004r transmission built by David Husek at Turbo Buick Performance. Well known builder in the Turbo buick community. He built this transmission specifically for this car. It has a 9" Pro Torque Converter with a 3400 stall. All new braided gas lines back to front. All new brake lines and master cylinder except front hoses. New upper a-arm bushings and ball joints. 4 wheel disc brakes. 12 bolt rearend with 4:11 gears, aftermarket posi, Moser axles, c-clip eliminators, Cal-trac bars with split mono's. Subframe connectors. 3" exhaust with crossover and Flowmasters. Car could use a paint job, like I said it has been repainted once a long time ago and is showing it's age. It has some cracks, scuffs, and chips. It's a great driver if you don't want to worry about the paint and looks great going down the road. Has original style interior, not sure how old it is. Nice tig welded 6 point rollbar.  Radio works but is not hooked up. There is a hole in the carpet where it used to have a four speed shifter. Any questions feel free to ask. Car is fun to drive and sounds awesome. Has about 300 miles on engine and transmission, not sure about the actual mileage on odometer. Thanks

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

Corvette Stingray designer lists five goals of new exterior shape

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

Redesigning an icon is a difficult task, especially when you've got a blank sheet of paper in front of you and the all-new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is intended to be your final objective.
General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
