Up for sale is my 1989 Chevy, Scottsdale, 2500, 3/4 ton, 4WD, Pickup.
As amazing as it sounds, I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER of this truck! Yes I purchased the truck brand new from the dealer.
I believe this was the last year they made the Scottsdale model but I could be wrong. This is a HEAVY 3/4 ton pickup which means that it sits on practically a one ton frame. It's an 8600 lb truck compared to a 7800 lb which is a regular 3/4 ton.
This is a work truck and needs work, restoration, etc, so read on....
This was a work truck and is sold as is.
Some history on the truck;
-Never been in an accident other than some dings and dents from use on construction jobs.
-Don't know the true odometer reading because the speedometer/odometer stopped working some time ago. Actual reading is 169367.
-It is on its 3rd engine and runs smooth.
-There is some noise due to some exhaust system issues.
-It is on its second transmission which works very well.
-Does need extensive front end work and CV boots and possibly more.
-One of the brake cylinders leaks fluid so even though it runs well, it would need to be towed or rollbacked in any event. More than likely, it just needs some small parts to fix.
-Seat is in bad condition.
-Ladder rack is not in good condition and would need some welding, a rear crossbar, sanding and painting if buyer intends to use it. Might be worth it just to scrap it.
-Does include an aluminum toolbox which is not in great shape, but works and does not leak.
-Radio is present but isn't working.
-AC compressor and all parts are in place but also doesn't work.
-No lies, this truck would need a lot of work but would be a great truck to restore because it is now historic if I'm not mistaken.

Hadn't started the truck in a while. Got a new battery, put in some fuel stabilizer, and the truck started right up. Still sounds very smooth! Transmission engages fine and all gears work fine.

Included will be eight tires in addition to the four on it which are used but have a good amount of tread left.

Even considering the condition. Looking around the web and checking websites for valuation, seeing what these sell for even in this condition, the ballpark that I am after is more than fair.
Obviously, this is local pickup only and will need to be towed to new owner's destination, at new owner's expense.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.
