1992 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Frewsburg, New York, United States
1992 Chevy 4x4 Sport truck, very rare. Said to be more rare than a 1971 GTO Judge. If equiped with BYP code, only 395 made that year of a 3 year run. I am the 3rd owner, but it was only registered and driven by first owner. Truck has 105k miles on it, and 0 miles on new motor. Over $5000 in a 400 HP 355 ci motor. Motor was professionally machined and and built from a 1979 Camaro motor, which, apparently was the motor with most nickel in the cylinders, and are top choice to rebuild according to motor enthusiast. Had transmission rebuilt a month ago, 700R4 original. Have brand new tires 31x10.5 on american racing rims, I also have original stock rims. recently drained the break in oil, and added top of the line with a court of duralube. This Sport came with a special off-road package, more so than the Z-71. Coming stock with bilstein shocks, oil and tranny coolers, skid flares, ect. Frame is showroom with engine compartment and frame all sandblasted. Original paint pretty much rust free, with the exception of driver side rocker. Card, which is a 650 edelbrock, needs to be turned in for fuel mileage and performance and at this time, transmission TV cable(kick down cable) needs to be hooked up. Interior is in good condition with captain chairs and center counsel, but needs a head liner. paint on hood is a little faded, which chevy was infamous for. With those things aside, it is in very good condition, and ready to go down the road. Engine has 3" headers into a stainless flow master duel exhaust, sounds pretty cool. All receipt accounted for. Paperwork shows cam lift and everything you will need to tune in. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions not addressed in ad. Send a message through ebay and i will send you my number. |

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.
Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
Callaway debuts its new C7 Stingray at National Corvette Museum
Fri, 02 May 2014Callaway showed off its first tuned version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the National Corvette Museum last week, giving the rampant enthusiasts of America's sports car a look at the roughly 620-horsepower, supercharged rocket.
Unlike the Corvette SC610 we showed you back in January, this Stingray packs a fair bit more oomph. Horsepower is only up ten ponies, but torque has jumped from 556 pound-feet to "at least" 600 pound-feet. Neither horsepower nor torque is official quite yet, although Callaway is expecting to know just what its creation can do once testing and validation is completed later this month.
The 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 now boasts a new, three-element intercooler, which Callaway claims only allowed the inlet air temperature to increase by ten degrees Fahrenheit during dyno runs. Previous designs saw a 35-degree-Fahrenheit jump. The exhaust system has also been fettled with, and now is even less restrictive.
