This is my 1976 Chevy 1/2 ton short-bed pick-up. Nicely rebuilt 454, 5spd., lifted with 33" Nittos on 17" Level 8 rims. Truck started as my daily driver, but after a few upgrades, ended up becoming a labor of love with a complete 4 year frame-off redo. Didn't intend to make it a show truck, rather a driver that will look good and last a long time. The list of work covers every area of the truck (parts list below to give you an idea of what is there). I have put a lot into this truck and it shows. Thank you for looking. Body Panels (new): -Doors -Cab corners -Driver side rocker (Pass side has surface rust - have a new rocker) -Both bed sides (and fuel doors, filler neck, brackets and filler / breather hoses - Dual Tank Truck) -Both rear wheel wells -Tailgate -Inner fenders -Core support -Cowl hood (steel) -Rear roll pan (welded flush) -Outer fenders replaced by previous owner -Wet sanded and buffed, BC/CC - Mango Tango (2011 Jeep)/ Black Body Trim / Accessories: -Euro Headlights -Headlight bezels -Front Bumper -Upper and lower grill trim -Tube grill -Front marker lights -Wheel well trim (all 4) -Mirrors -Door handles -Rear tail buckets and lenses Engine: -Rebuilt 454 (work completed by specialty engine and machine) -270 cam kit -Roller rockers -Gear drive timing -Oil Pan and Timing Cover - Both Milidon -Water pump -Alternator (and brackets) -Powder coated valve covers, breathers, air cleaner, water neck -EnduroShine intake -Holley Carb, dual fuel inlet, filter and lines -Full Length headers (and all new dual exhaust) -Starter -Distributor and wires -Fuel pump -Power steering pump, correct brackets and lines Engine Compartment: -New radiator, overflow tank, chrome cover and hoses -Heater hoses -Master cylinder, chrome proportioning valve and stainless steel break lines -Red Top Battery, Battery tray, hold down and support bracket, and cables -Washer box, lines and jets and pump Trans / Transfer Case -NV4500 5 speed, 208 transfer case (completely rebuilt by Joe's Transmission) -Hurst Shifter, Core-Products short throw -New high performance clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing -Ground Flywheel (by Specialty Engine and Machine) -Advance Adapter Bell housing -New bellcrank, pivot bearing, adjuster Interior / Cab (new): -Carpet and sound proofing material -Dbl DIN Touchscreen radio with Bluetooth, navigation, back-up camera, DVD -Custom center console / speakers -Pair of leather and suede buckets -Heater duct -Seat belts -One piece side window conversion -Classic Steering Wheel -Window cranks -Sill plates and aluminum carpet trim + other small pieces Frame: -Cleaned and painted with POR15 -2 New tanks, sending units, straps and lines -New flexible break lines front and rear -New Calipers, pads, Rotors in front -New wheel cylinders in rear -New shocks, including steering stabilizer -33" Nitto Mud grapplers on 17" Level 8 rims Passenger side rocker wasn’t changed and is now showing rust. Have a new rocker and paint that will go with the truck. Clean / Clear title in my name. Truck is registered as an Antique and doesn't need inspected. General Motors shaking up its marketing... again
Wed, 13 Mar 2013One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild
Tue, 12 Feb 2013This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.
New Chevrolet Silverado to be revealed on Facebook on Thursday
Tue, 11 Dec 2012There's not much to see here, but if you're one of those waiting for the reveal of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, above is the teaser image that Chevrolet posted on its Facebook page. We've seen the truck in form-fitting camo before, and even less can be made out here beyond those seriously punchy Silverado-esque fenders and the knowledge that the projector-beam headlamps teased previously do indeed work. We'll have to wait until Thursday for a full perusal of the "bold exterior design" and "careful attention given to every detail" we've been promised.
Gathering intel and rumors, magnesium and aluminum contribute to the Silverado's weight loss plan, the purported "High Country" top-tier trim will contribute to luxury pickup truck competition and profit margins and the next-generation small-block V8 will contribute to improved fuel economy. On the engine note, there have been rumors of available V6 engines, and when Facebook user John Jones asked "Where's your answer to that EcoBoost Chevy?", the Bowtie replied "stay tuned on the 13th. We think you'll be pleased...".
Along with the "Raise the Bar" tag, Chevrolet says of the Silverado, "You asked, we delivered." You can watch the reveal live on Chevrolet's Facebook page at 9:30 am EST, this Thursday, December 13. The GMC Sierra 1500 will also be there, and we'll see both in person at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
