OK, here's my story, I've been building cars professional for over 50 years, I'm slowing down, getting old and hurt all over. To Boot I've run out of money so I'm going to sell off my projects (this one 1st, then maybe others after a successful sale) This is a great opportunity for someone to pickup where I have left off. My wife and I are on SS and no longer have an income to handle our hobbies. My loss will be someone else's Gain. I've put allot of information here and may have left something out. If you have questions, Please ask. I might also be interested in a trade (must have 4 wheels & drive No motor cycles or Boats)
This truck was purchased as a modified street machine done back in the 80s,90s? The pictures of the truck in Black, as a driver were before I started the restore. I drove this truck for about 6 months and was not happy with the ride or gear ratio. So I started this restomode  about July of 2013. This was completely stripped down to the frame and mounted in Rotisserie, sandblasted and painted silver with KBS Coatings. In my opinion this is better then POR 15 and even Powdercoat. Tough as nails, won't rust, even brake fluid won't harm this coating. The differential is new GM 12 Bolt Truck 8.875 Eaton Posi Unit 3.08 Ratio, setup new bearings, seals and 5 Lug Axles By Ring & Pinion Service, Rancho Cordova,Ca. KBS Coated in Black. Rear Disc Brakes w/E brakes are from CPP (Classic Performance Products, Placentia,Ca.) Mounted in the rear Chassis is a New Steel Gas Tank from Brothers Classic Truck Parts. Spherical Clutch Linkage w/Heim ends for Superior clutch handling from Brothers. From Tuckers Classic Auto Parts, Polyurethane Trailing Arm Bushings. Saginaw Power Steering unit painted w/KBS Black. The engine is a 383 Stroker Built by Powerhouse Crankshaft Balancing in Bakersfield,Ca. w/ the following; 350 4-Bolt Main Block Bored+.030 w/3.75GM Stroke= 383 CID, Speed Pro Hyper-eutectic Flattop Pistons 4-Valve Relief (9.5:1 CR), GM 400 Crank Turned Down to 350 Main Size (3.75" stroke), Rebuilt GM Rods with Pioneer Rod Bolts, Mellings #M55 Oil Pump & Hardened Drive Rod, Howards #110245 .501/.509 Lift Hydraulic Roller Cam, Federal Mogul #HT 5000 Roller Lifters, GM #041 (L16) Cylinder Heads with Mild Porting to fit Fel Pro #1206 Intake gaskets.

Long Tube Headers (need sandblasting & paint), 2 1/2" SS exhaust pipes and Turbo Mufflers. The Transmission is a Richmond Bullet Proof Six Speed Overdrive Transmission and includes the Owners Manual.  The Radiator is 4 row copper w/ Electric Fan. The Cab, front end and the box/fenders are all off the frame and all need very minor if any Body work, but will need allot of prep for paint. The lower Fenders are showing some rust, but can be repaired easily. I would strip sheetmetal to bare metal, the box has Oak wood that can be restored but 2 boards need replacing as they are split. The rails are Polished Stainless Steel and include the mounting hardware. There are New Poly Urethane Cab Mount Bushings and Bolt set included. The Cab has New Rear Window Glass (Gray tint), and New Door & Wing window Glass (Green Tint). Needs a Windshield. Includes New in 2 Boxes-Vintage Air Complete System for 63 Chevy Truck, Chrome Compressor and brackets mounted on engine. Rechromed Front Chevrolet Grill and H/L Doors. Chrome Glovebox door, Chrome Door Panels, Later model seat notched for shifter will be Upholstered in Tan Leatherette, Chrome Gauge Bezel w/Dolphin Tan Face Gold Trim Domed Glass Instrument Gauges. LaCarra Leather wrapped steering wheel, Billet Bow Tie Horn button, Chrome Tilt Steering Column, New 60-66 Classic Update Wire Harness Kit. S/S LED tail Lights, and these are nice and bright. This truck is on California non op and has 1963 Registered Black Plates. Also includes 2 gallons of yellow and 1 gallon of Orange = 3 gallons Burnt Orange. That is the color that I was going to paint it. I have pictures and will be updating those as I will need to open boxes of parts for those pictures. Don't see something, ask. Do your research on this truck build and parts then do the math. You won't be able to build this truck for less then what you could own it for.    Thanks, Happy Bidding

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.

GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning

Sat, Feb 2 2019

According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.

2020 Chevy Silverado HD vs. 2019 Ram, Ford heavy duty trucks: How they compare on paper

Tue, Jan 15 2019

Last year was all about the latest in light-duty full-size pickup trucks, so this year, Ram, Ford and Chevy are launching the heavy-duty variants. The first out of the gate is the redesigned 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 HD, and Ram dropped all the pertinent specs with the reveal. Chevy followed with the new Silverado HD in Chicago, and Ford revealed updates to the Super Duty at the same show. Ford hasn't released details on output, payload capacity, towing capacity or pricing for the updated Super Duty. As such, we'll be comparing the current Super Duty with the all-new Silverado HD and Ram HD. Both Chevy and Ram have revealed full specs for each of their respective trucks, leaving out only pricing, which we've estimated based on the outgoing models. You can see the raw details in the chart below, followed by extra information and analysis. Some things to keep in mind: These specifications cover all versions of the Ram HD, Silverado HD and Super Duty, such as 2500 and 3500 models, and all the way up to F-450. Specifications can vary widely based on engine, drivetrain, cab and bed configurations, so be sure to take a close look at the specific model you're interested in when you get particularly serious about buying. And of course, be sure to check out our car comparison tool if you'd like to look at other trucks on the market. Engines and drivetrains All three of these trucks offer gasoline and diesel engines, but only the Ram has two versions of the diesel. Starting with gas engines, Ram's 6.4-liter V8 has the power advantage with 25 more horsepower than the next-most-potent Super Duty, but the new Silverado HD's 6.6-liter V8 takes the torque crown at 464 pound-feet, nearly 35 more than the other two gas engines. The Ram is also the only one to pair an eight-speed automatic with the gas engine, whereas the Ford and Chevy make do with a six-speed. With diesel engines, horsepower is a weak point for the Ram. The Ram's entry-level turbo 6.7-liter inline-six is the weakest, as the only one with under 900 pound-feet of torque and under 400 horsepower. Even the high-output version only makes 400 horsepower, while the Chevy makes 445 and the Ford 450. But the tables turn with torque, as the Ram makes a best-in-class 1,000 pound-feet followed by the Ford's 935 and the Chevy's 910. Both the Ram and the current Super Duty diesels each get a six-speed automatic, but the new Silverado HD's diesel gets a 10-speed unit.
