I have a blazer its a 1980 has a 77 front end this rig is not perfect it's my project but a driver the biggest things it need is heater quit working in the winter, the doors has rust, paint (its AZ faded), turn signal switch broke, and the windshield is cracked, passenger window is a pain to roll up, tires need balanced and that is all the bad wrong with it

the motor is a bbc 454 mostly stock with some upgrades edelbrock carb, very mild cam, noisy gear drive(no timing chain), hei dist, 5 core radiator, 8qt. oil pan, high volume oil pump and everything else is pretty much stock everything was new or rebuilt within the last 5k miles and does leak a drop of oil sometimes out the rear somewhere but not enough to worry about just a drop after driven

the trans is a th400 2wd not 4wd has less than 4k since rebuilt it

has good 35in procomp tires in good shape need balanced and 15in mag rims has a 3in body lift the guy i bought it from put it on with no bushings and welded the bumper brackets so you here all the movement and it has a 6in suspension lift rear shocks replaced 2 years ago steering dampers (all 3) replaced year ago

this blazer was a 4wd at one time but ITS A 2WD NOW it has the front axle in it still but the transfer case is gone

the only rust on this is in the doors other than that I couldn't find any it does have some bondo cracking though I started building this this 3 years ago i wanted to drop and bag this but i really lost interest in it in 3 years I only put at the most 5k miles on it I don't really use it I drive it maybe once every couple of months I'm sick of paying insurance on something I don't use I'm looking to sell or maybe trade or trade/cash I'm into this thing around 8500 if you have a trade email for trades im looking for a 4stroke pair of jet skis, classic car, rat rod, suv (94or newer) 4dr truck, diesel, toyhauler, bobber, Harley, chopper or what do you have

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
