I have owned this car for 26 years. Recently finished it just the way I want it. I am a car builder, which separates this car from many if not all others out there. There is so much to list on this frame off resto. I'll give the basics but a phone call would help to really fill in the details.
Zero rust on fully redone body. Including hand rolled 18 ga. cold rolled door skins. Inner door bottoms, quarters, head light caps. All new rubber and seals. All new metal. Minimal body fill--bring a magnet!! Paint is 3 stage ppg, base and clear. Super cool taillights that light up in diamonds. Original fuel tank is accessed through trunk, like a fuel ell.
Suspension is one of the very special features. As a hot rod builder I build cars for customers who want to go fast down the track. I too want to go fast down the track, but the car was built for street. Tubular A arms, front and rear Nascar torsion bar suspension--not plain old steel sway bars with rubber bushings. The weight transfer of this machine is outstanding. Handles as if on rails. It is a truly unique driving experience in a car like this. Solid strut links from rear end and to frame so the power gets to the ground.
Big block Chevy bored to 468. Balanced and Blueprinted at Kerslake Machine in Maple Valley Washington. Forged TRW pistons. Edelbrock Aluminum heads with FULL port and polish, 3/8 Manley Stainless steel valves. Elelbrock Air Gap intake with 750 double pumper. HEI with MSD ignition. Custom Hooker stepped headers ceramicoated and wrapped. Custom built aluminum firewall. Crane solid roller cam and gold race solid lifters. Crane Gold roller rocker arms, making it a true roller valve train. Flowmaster dual exhaust. HI flow cooling system with Be Cool Alminum  Radiatior and dual fans. This motor will never bust 200 degrees, under the hardest driving. All new electrical. Every circuit hand wired and fuse protected. 2 speed wipers with delay, Desert cooler Heater system. Billet aluminum Specialties wheels front and back with new rubber. Ididit column.
Muncie 4 speed M22. aka, rock crusher with cast iron mid plate and new Italian gear set. hurst Shifter with line lock. Shortened Ford 9"with Moser axles and Detroit locker. Currently running 4 11's but a set of 3 90s come with it. As you can tell, no expense was spared with this build, as it was built for me, by me. The interior is bone stock, just the way it should be. I just don't see the logic in padding these interiors with foam and leather and center consoles and digital gauges. YUCK!! There is a small tear on the drivers bench seat. All new headliner, carpet, custom sewn door panels, new window regulators. And of course the car is layered with Fat Mat noise cancelling--floors, doors, even the roof. The bumpers are nice but have a couple of rust spots, and two of the fender trim pieces have small bends in them. This is minor but I want to give full disclosure so there are no surprises. Laser straight body, perfect door lines.
This motor desktop dynoned at 565 hp and 595 lb of torque. It is a monster when it needs to be, and a nice cruiser when it needs to be. Again, this is not a Vegas project that was whipped together to flip. This is a lifelong build. Unfortunately, I have some major health issues and am forced to sell her. MY heart is broken but I'm hoping she lands in the right hands.
thanks for looking and God bless.

Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
