For sale is a 2002 E46 M3 with SMG transmission. Miles are 117,000. I have had the car since 2004 and have put 80,000 miles on the car. The car is Topaz Blue with black leather. The car has every option available ( cold weather package). The car is stock except for the exhaust system and stereo. The car currently runs on 245/35/19 275/30/19 Michelin Super Sports ( 750 miles on them) and they are mounted to I forged Sprints. The car also comes with two extra front rims if you run a BBK, so that is six rims total. In recent months the car has had the water pump, hoses, thermostat, radiator system replaced and OEM parts were used. Car has front painted clip due to clear coat chipping and rock chips. Has new front spoiler as it was cheaper to replace than repair. It is now covered with 3M clear bra material to avoid this from happening again. Car has had the Turner Subframe Mounting kit installed ( in a professional body shop) and every nut and bolt and other parts were replaced when the rear suspension was off the car. Car has Koni adjustable shocks from TC Klein which you can adjust from inside the trunk and on the top of the strut. Car has had the rasp removed from the car with a X pipe modification in section #2. Car has UUC exhaust which was only one of 10 made. Car has xexon head lights and also HID fog lights to match. Also has angel eye treatment. Car had ceramic window tint ( 800.00) in a 20% film. Stereo system has been bypassed and is now running a Alpine XM head unit which is hooked up to 3 Alpine V12 amps. There is a 12" JL subwoofer and the speakers are Boston Pro series. In the trunk is a 12 disc cd changer and a cable to run Aux. Clutch was replaced at 95,000 miles ( first clutch for the car). Starter replaced at 102,000 miles and the battery is 3 months old. All work on car has been handled by either the dealership and or myself. I have close to 4000 posts on the M3 forum and also many DYI posts to help the community. This car is as new as can be. Owner is in his 50's and has been taken care of with a passion for perfection. Car is located in Kansas City area. Don't pass this one up!

The importance of Angel Eyes, Ventiports and four round taillights
Sun, 01 Sep 2013Just the other day, we told you about how Lincoln isn't really a luxury brand, according to Ford's head design man, J Mays. His argument was that Lincoln lacked the unique DNA to differentiate it from the rest of the market, although the arrival of the MKZ is beginning to change that. Now, we have this video from Autoline Detroit, where Jim Hall, an analyst for 2953 Analytics who was quoted in yesterday's Lincoln story, explains the influence of certain styling cues and how they impact the brands.
Using BMW (Angel Eyes) and Buick (Ventiports) as examples for small, simple touches that serve to distinguish the brand's vehicles on the road, Hall then points out how changing trademark styling features, as Chevrolet has done on the new Corvette Stingray, can hurt the vehicle's public perception. Take a look at the full video below for an interesting dive into what these styling features mean to their individual brands.
Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move
Tue, Dec 6 2016With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.
Meet the inventor of the BMW 3 Series wagon
Sat, 11 May 2013It's hard to imagine, but once upon a time, there were only two BMW 3 Series variants: the coupe and sedan. Back before gran coupes, convertibles and yes, even touring models were available, buyers could only get their 3 Series fix if it came with two or four doors and a fixed roof. Back in the mid '80s, BMW engineer Max Reisbock was having some trouble fitting his whole family into his four door. Rather than suck it up and buy a van, he picked up a wrecked 3 Series and got to cutting in a buddy's garage. Months later, he had the very first 3 Series Touring ever built.
At first, he kept the the car to himself, using it to haul friends and family around, but he eventually showed it off to his friends at work. When the BMW executives found out about his project, they called him up to take a closer look. After putting an eyeball on the car, they took it, copied his design, made a few tweaks and quickly rolled out the first production 3 Series Touring. How's that for validation? Check out the video below for Reisbock's story.
