1985 BMW Baur TC2 convertible with S50 M3 engine conversion The car is being listed on behalf of a private collector who is scaling down a collection of rare automobiles. The vehicle is located in Los Angeles California and carries a clean and clear California title. The vehicle was not first sold in the US being a personal import from Germany, hence ebay is not able to access the VIN vehicle history. An original European specification 318 convertible built by Baur Coachworks of Stuttgart for BMW in 1985. The car has been professionally converted to a full S50 M3 ( E36 ) drivetrain. Triple black with clean black bodywork and matching mohair top. The body work appears to have been repainted in the original color at some time; it is very presentable but does have minor flaws in the paint and body. The top is undamaged and shows very little wear, the rear window appears to be new. Exterior details such as the bumpers and trim are naturally European specification. A new set of aftermarket alloy wheels with new tires were recently fitted to further enhance the appearance. All glass and exterior trim are in good condition, there appear to be no items missing. The interior is very clean and is finished in factory sports trim. Power windows and door locks, There is an updated Kenwood stereo installed with a new headunit and speakers along with a comprehensive security system. Short throw shifter and M Sport steering wheel. The engine and transmission are the M3 S50 and 5 speed ZF. There is also an M3 spec exhaust system fitted. The suspension is uprated with Eibach springs and gas shocks. Overall the vehicle is cleaner than would be expected for a car of this age, the engine conversion is very well engineered and executed, it drives very well and as you might expect is extremely quick. Given the extremely low production numbers for the Baur TC and the engine conversion, this car is believed to be unique. BMW 4 Series spied with its future competition
Wed, 20 Feb 2013BMW showed off its new 4 Series coupe in concept form at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, but it won't be long before we see the production model, evidenced by this modestly camouflaged prototype spotted testing. In case you forgot, the 4 Series serves as the replacement for the two-door versions of the BMW 3 Series, just as the upcoming 2 Series will effectively be the new version of the 1 Series coupe and convertible sold in our market.
This isn't our first glimpse of the 4 Series out testing, and we've even spied its droptop, Gran Coupe and too-hot M4 kin. We don't expect the final design to stray too much from the concept car seen in Detroit, albeit without the normal conceptual goodies like oversized wheels and with the overstyled front fascia toned down a bit. Our spy photographers even caught the 4 Series coupe hanging out with an Audi A5, giving us a good glimpse at how the two cars will stack up in terms of size and design.
It's still unknown exactly what engines will power the car when it comes to production, but since this thing is a derivative of the 3 Series, we expect the usual range of turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines to be available, likely in 428i ad 435i guise (though, to be fair, the larger 640i coupe uses a 3.0-liter turbo engine, so there's even the potential for 440i nomenclature to work its way into the mix). We'll have to wait until the car officially bows later this year to know for sure.
X1, 3 Series power BMW back into global luxury autos sales lead

According to Bloomberg, BMW saw deliveries swell by 7 percent in February, besting the 3.2 percent jump enjoyed by Audi and giving BMW a 407-unit delivery lead over its rival last month. Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, continued to falter, with the brand selling some 37,229 fewer machines than BMW, whose factories are running at full capacity to keep up with demand. Models like the X1 (shown above) enjoyed a sales increase of 40 percent in February while the company's bread-and-butter 3 Series jumped by 26 percent.
Mercedes-Benz hopes to stem its continued market share loss with the addition of the entry-level CLA sedan to its portfolio in April. The company is set to roll out an updated version of its cash-cow E-Class at the same time, and a new-generation S-Class will follow along shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the company is increasing production to meet demand for its A and B-Class models.

A few days before the Shanghai Motor Show kicked off, we were part of an international group of media that was invited to have a look at the BMW Designworks Shanghai Studio and ConnectedDrive Lab facility. The building that BMW found to house its Chinese think tank is in a lovely part of Shanghai known as the former French Concession. The late 1890s and early 1900s French architectural style, brick-paved streets and tree-lined spaces feel a world apart from the ultra-modern heart of Shanghai, and the BMW enclave is a suitable mix of high-tech and throwback cool.
