1967 Ford Rachero 500 390 EFI Resto Mod/Pro touring car

This truck is Fast and Beautiful. It handle and stops better than any pick up you have ever driven too.

I am a professional car builder and well known diagnostician and technician I built this truck for me but my family has decided they like going to car events for me so we are needing a few more seating positions and I don't have enough room for this one and I can't stand to have it sit around without being enjoyed. You are buying this car for 30% of the cost to build it or more to the point you are buying the paint and I am throwing in one really nice hot rod.

The body and interior were media blasted and made laser straight including sand and fill across panels for that show car look. All repairs were done with the car on a rotisserie. All the blocking was done this way too so even the bottom of the car is straight if you look up at it. The color is the 2009 Ford F series Red which is pretty close to the original 67 red but much easier to match. All of the stainless on the car has been polished, all of the chrome has been completely restored including the dash parts (over $1100 just in the interior chrome bezels of the gauges and A/C vents) Nearly every system on it has been upgraded from lighting and wiring to a complete redesign of the suspension for better ride and handling than Ranchero's normally had. Here is the list:

Body

Base coat clear coat super glossy rubbed out paint job

All of the body joints were cleaned and resealed with new joint sealant

All lines adjusted and fit for straightness

Power dome hood scoops with the 390 emblems removed

Blacked out hood, scoops, cowl and wiper arms

All new rubber throughout

Bed is very straight and has color matched Rhino lining

Stainless trim all polished

Head light doors, Grille and tail lamp bezels all powder coated in a matte pearl gray

Halogen headlamps

All doors including tailgate sound dampened for that high end car sound when they close

500 trim removed (You can have all of it if you want it.)

All new chrome and emblems - some New Old Stock (NOS)

NOS lamps with restored reflectors

Interior

1960s time machine.

All original NOS gauges and radio

Factory A/C system

Interior all in original Ford colors

New headliner original style

New carpet loop

Ranchero embroidered floor mats

Seat redone with memory foam, original style vinyl but 2005 Mustang Red Fabric inset for better comfort.

New Dearborn Classic door panels - GT style because you could not get the 500 when we did the car

New custom vinyl panel behind seat

All repainted in correct 67 Fairlane red metallic inside

Dash pad was upholstered to match interior

Added period correct Moon Gauges and Tachometer

Added period correct steering wheel with red metal flake - I just liked it

All dash chrome was vacuum plated or chromed better than original

Everything works

Engine

I build and tune engines for a living and for over 35 years. This was designed on dyno simulation software and it sounds like a drag race engine but will tear your face off right off idle to about 5500 RPM.

351 Windsor bored .040 and stroked to 3.83 to get 390 Cubic inches

Ford Racing Aluminum Heads

11:1 compression

Comp Cams custom grind Hydraulic roller cam

Roller rocker ams

Eagle Strocker kit with H beam rods, cast crank and Hypereutectic pistons (street motor I didn't want forged pistons rattling in case it needed a ping control)

SFI harmonic balancer

Melling oil pump

Hardened pump drive shaft

Machine work by MPG heads - a very successful Engine Masters Competitor

Trick flow EFI intake

42 pound fuel injectors

75mm BBS throttle body

MSD EFI distributor

Ford A9L Mustang Computer - custom programmed

1.75 primary Hooker competition headers

2.5 inch custom Exhaust with Flowmaster Delta Flow Mufflers

430 uncorrected horsepower at the rear wheels @ 5300 ft above sea level.

Gear reduction starter for hot days.

Drivetrain

Performance Automatic C4 with all the big parts in it. Custom Art Carr 2400 RPM stall converter

Lincoln Versailles 9 Inch with 3.0 Limited slip, Noisy but fine Richmond High nickel gears and a custom Torque arm and sub frame connectors

Don't worry It can blow its tires away at will but if you are a little subtle it hooks up well.

New high performance driveshaft

Suspension

The factory suspension has been plotted in my Lotus suspension design software to improve several areas.

Moved the upper control arms to better locations for better camber curve and anti dive. (similar to the Shelby mod on the mustangs)

Removed the springs from the upper control arms and utilized adjustable air coil overs on the lower control arms to lower the spring roll pivot points.

Custom adjustable upper coil over seats on the front.

Boss Mustang style lower frame rail supports welded in

All new parts in Steering

Rear suspension is a Rocker arm like a Formula 1 car. The Air coil overs are horizontal mounted and attach to the rocker arms and pushrods down to the rear end. This reduces unsprung weight and keeps the rear from bouncing over rough roads and there is no wheel hop from this suspension.

Brakes

This thing stops like a Porsche or Corvette.

Front custom fit 13” Cobra Mustang – designed so you can use off the shelf rotors and pads when it needs them

Rear brakes 12” 08 Mustang GT Lokar custom cables connect the park brakes to the original Emergency Brakes

2001 Mustang GT Hydroboost brake booster

Adjustable rear proportioning valve

Stainless brake hoses and new hard lines throughout

Fuel System

Modified Factory tank with dual in tank rotary electric fuel pumps.

New fuel sending unit

New fuel lines throughout

Easy to change readily available fuel filter

Ford Fusion production scaled back just 3 months after it was accelerated

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

Three months after kicking off production of the Ford Fusion at its Flat Rock, MI factory, Ford Motor Company is taking steps to trim output in the face of heavily discounted competition from Toyota and a growing supply of vehicles.
The addition of Fusion production in Flat Rock - which also builds the Mustang - was meant to be what pushed the handsome mid-sizer past its arch-nemesis, the Toyota Camry. An extra facility building Fusions was also meant to curb the growing demand for Ford's highly profitable sedan.
But with word that Flat Rock would take "approximately" one extra week off for the holidays combined with an 88-day supply of Fusions - reportedly due in no small part to what Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas called "aggressive discounting of the Camry" - some analysts are now beginning to wonder if Ford may have overextended itself by adding a second Fusion facility to the mix.

Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average

Tue, 11 Jun 2013

We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).

2015 Mustang-based Saleen S302 to boast as much as 640 hp

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

The Ford Mustang is obviously a famous performance vehicle in its own right, but it often works even better as a platform for the aftermarket to upgrade. With the all-new 2015 model just now hitting the scene, the famous tuners at Saleen are getting their improvements for the new pony car ready for the world. After recently teasing it, the specs for its fresh S302 model are officially here, along with a first look at it in profile.
Of course, the biggest question on everyone's mind is how much power the company can get from the Mustang's V8. With the 2015 V8 model rated at 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet, Saleen expects to bump the Ford factory numbers slightly to 450 hp and 410 lb-ft in naturally aspirated form, or with the benefit of a supercharger, it will rocket the engine's output figures to 640 hp and 565 lb-ft. No matter which powerplant a buyer chooses, there are a wide variety of available final-drive ratios with a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
Available as either a coupe or convertible forms, Saleen will offer its S302 in three trim levels - White Label, Yellow Label and Black Label. The White Label is the only naturally aspirated one of the bunch, but it still benefits from upgrades like a new exhaust, limited-slip differential, improved suspension, heat extractor hood and rear wing.
