1967 Mustang GT500E Eleanor Replica
If you have been dreaming about owning one of the most iconic and well recognized cars in the world, the 1967
Mustang Eleanor GT500E, then you have just found THE CAR! This car was built from the ground up in 2012 and
nothing was spared in the build. It was built with PERFORMANCE and RELIABILITY and VISUAL APPEAL in mind. The
build started with a Dynacorn '1967' Mustang Fastback chassis. Dynacorn is licensed by Ford to produce brand new
chassis' using the Ford templates from the 1960's. Next, an Eleanor body kit was installed on the chassis. This
included fender flares, ground effects, high rise hood, front and rear spoilers, side scoops, lower valence exhaust
cutouts, all the stuff from the original Chip Foose design. Once the kit was installed and molded to the chassis,
the car was painted pepper grey with black stripes, just like the conic movie car. The result is a beautiful car
that shines bright and catches eyes wherever it goes.
In addition to being a breathtakingly beautiful car, this car was also built to perform. Under that high rise hood
rests a Ford Racing all aluminum 427 ci, 600 hp naturally aspirated monster. The engine has long tube headers,
Edelbrock intake, Holley 780 cfm carb, MSD electronic ignition, Cobra valve covers and air cleaner, and aTru Trac
serpentine accessory drive. Mated to the engine is a Tremec TKO 5-speed transmission with a hydraulic clutch. The
power is put to the wheels via a Chris Alston Chassisworks rear suspension that includes a bulletproof Curie 9"
Ford rear axle, massive horizontal coils over shocks, multi link trailing arms and stabilizers, subframe
connectors, and Strang Engineering axles. You have to look at the pictures to get a real appreciation for the
sophistication of this rear suspension. It is fully tunable to handle different driving scenarios. Back up front,
a TCI independent front suspension with sway bars and adjustable coil over shocks helps this Mustang carve turn
with ease and precision.
All this power and handling capability would not be very effective unless the brakes can stop the car quickly and
effectively. The car sports a complete Wilwood braking system with stainless steel 6 piston calipers up front and
4 piston calipers in the rear. Cooling is handled by an aluminum radiator and dual electric fans.
The car rides on American Racing Shelby Z427 wheels. Inside, custom racing bucket seats with Simpson Harnesses
provide a comfortable, safe ride. A roll bar adds an extra level of protection. Vintage Air Gen IV keeps the
interior cool. Modern Classic Instruments include speed, RPM, oil pressure, fuel Level, and water temp. A wood
grain steering wheel completes the nostalgic look.

Hennessey Ford GT sets 267.6-MPH record at Texas Mile [w/videos]

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

The record-setting Hennessey-powered camouflage Ford GT we showed you at this time last year headed back to the Texas Mile and managed to bring home yet another record. As you may recollect, last year saw Mark Heidraker's machine sprint to a record 257.7 mph thanks to propulsion from its twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8. The big mill sucks down race gas, and this year the creation pulled off a 267.6-mph run over the weekend. That feat set a new record for the event. Something tells us neither Heidraker nor Hennessey are done squeezing more thrust from this machine.
This particular Ford GT has already gone through a number of permutations. Hennessey started by tweaking the factory supercharger set up before abandoning the blower in favor of two turbos. Since then, the crew has poked and prodded it to coerce as much grunt as possible out of the car. We expect Hennessey will probably come out with a video of the record-setting run shortly, but in the meantime, you can see a couple of videos of the car's runs in Texas below (one of which actually captures the record run). Enjoy.

Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang is a lean, mean, Z/28-fighting machine [w/video]

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

If there's one thing you can count on, it's that the renewed rivalry between the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro will never, ever cease. For every version of Ford's pony car, there's an equally potent Chevrolet. And so with the debut of the Camaro Z/28 earlier this year, Ford has responded with a track-focused 'Stang of its own, resurrecting the Shelby GT350 name.
It looks to be a fine piece of work, this Mustang, with power coming from a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 that will produce "more than 500 horsepower" and "above 400" pound-feet of torque. That grunt runs to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, and a Torsen limited-slip differential keeps everything in line.
But that's hardly the most impressive piece of the GT350 puzzle. Ford has increased the Mustang GT's chassis stiffness for duty here in the Shelby, and the coupe employs MagneRide damping which automatically adjusts based on road conditions and driver inputs. It's a first both for the Blue Oval and for the segment. And speaking of firsts, the GT350 uses a flat-plane crankshaft - something Ford has never included in a production V8 before.

Mustang GT350 reveal coming Nov 17?

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Ford looks to have something really big planned for the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Blue Oval has released the first of five teaser videos on the brand's performance heritage, and aside from some great images of racers over the years, the video includes a series of teaser images, the last of which points to November 17, 2014.
That's the day before press days open in LA, and considering the propensity of global automakers to plan lavish debuts the night before a major international auto show, it's a virtual certainty that Ford will be showing off some sort of special vehicle.
That'd be news in and of itself, but based on the images shown in Ford's teaser video - which include an Alcantara steering wheel, a "Powered by Ford" valve cover, aluminum pedals, sticky tires, a big, round exhaust tip, a honeycomb grille and a serious set of wheels - it seems very likely that Ford will be showing something performance oriented.
