2004 Volvo Xc90 In Very Good Condition For Its Age And Milage on 2040-cars
Brooklyn, New York, United States
I have owned this 2004 Volvo XC90 2.5T FWD since 2010. I'm the second owner, the original owner lived in suburbs of Atlanta. When I purchased the car it had 173,000 miles on it which were purely highway miles. I put the 36,000 miles on the car, that were mostly highway miles as well, since I had to commute to Pennsylvania several days a week due to work. The car has 209,000 miles on it at this point, but drives great nonetheless. Every time I take to be serviced the mechanics are wowed at the condition of the car with such a milage. Volvos have one of the best engines out there and if taken a good care I don't see why this car can not put at least another 200,000 on it. This car gives me 16-17 miles per gallon in the city and 21-22 on the highway. I alway use the highest grade fuel and it gives me a great milage and keeps the engine running smooth. I've regularly maintained this car in good condition and spent at least $4,000 on it since I've purchased it. I've recently changed: Timing Belt, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Spark Plugs, Breaks, Driver side window motor, It has good Michelin Tires, I've recently balanced them and had the alignment done, Oil has been changed only last week, with the new filter installed. The car has very few spots and dings, adequate to a car its age. Overall it looks and drives great. The interior is in excellent shape apart from the hand rest that has been scraped. The car has always been smoke free. Anti-Skid service required sign is on, which is due to a small sensor needing to be replaced. It doesn't affect the performance of the car in any way so I chose not to spend several hundred dollars on it. Another issue with the car is a sunroof not working. It is permanently closed. Volvo quoted me $350 to replace the sensor thats affecting it. I never used it anyways so chose not to spent that money on fixing it. I only have one key. I bought it that way. Overall this is a great car that is priced adequately to its milage and few non important issues. I've tried to describe the car to the best of my knowledge, if you have any questions or would like to view the car feel free to contact me at (347) 893 2508 The car is sold as is, so feel free to check it out before bidding. Car is located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. |

Volvo shows inflatable child seat concept [w/video]
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Volvo is bringing its emphasis on safety and design to the littlest members of the family with its concept for an inflatable, rearward facing child safety seat. The design is meant to help traveling families by offering a lighter and less bulky alternative to traditional car seats.
The design is quite ingenious. The seat is covered in drop-stitched fabric, which fills with air to create the form of the seat. An electric motor in it allows inflation and deflation in less than 40 seconds, according to Volvo. It weighs less than 5 kilograms (11 pounds) and folds small enough when collapsed to fit into a bag. It even has a Bluetooth connection, so parents can begin expanding it remotely.
The inflatable seat in the brainchild of Lawrence Abele, Volvo's design manager at its Monitoring and Concept Center in Los Angeles, CA. "For many, travelling with young children is a challenge; any assistance to simplify the parents' life with young children is a great thing," he said in a statement released by Volvo. The chair remains a concept for now, and the automaker isn't saying whether it's going to put it into production, but it's a clever solution to a common problem. Scroll down for a video showing it in action and to read the release.
2015 Volvo XC90 proves Sweden's auto industry is alive and well [w/video]
Fri, 03 Oct 2014The most important new Volvo in quite some time has made its first auto show appearance, with the second-generation XC90 debuting at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
As we discussed in both our original post and Deep Dive feature, the new XC90 remains a three-row crossover for 2015, although it ditches the first-gen model's top-end, turbocharged six-cylinder in favor of a single twin-charged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. By pairing that with a plug-in-electric powertrain, the king of the XC90 range, the T8 TwinEngine, will offer up 400 horsepower. So yeah, performance should be brisk.
Also appearing on 2015 XC90 will be an entirely new, Apple CarPlay-compatible infotainment system with a big, vertical touchscreen display at its heart. Based on the videos we've seen, the new system looks responsive, feature-laden and quite attractive.
Volvo Polestar reveals new V8 Supercars engine
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Volvo may be better known for turbo fives and inline fours, but in 2005 it launched the XC90 with a new eight-cylinder engine built for it by Yamaha. Fast forward to this past June when Volvo announced its intention to enter Australia's V8 Supercars series, where it would compete with the likes of Ford, Holden, Nissan and Mercedes-AMG. This is the engine with which it intends to do so.
Revealed this weekend at the Sydney 500, this competition-spec powerplant is based on the same B8444S that powered the XC90 and S80 (not to mention the Noble M600), but tuned for racing duty to be shoehorned into the new S60 touring car. The 60-degree aluminum block has been bored out from 4.4 liters to 5.0, its compression ratio boosted to 10:1, modified to run on E85 bio-ethanol and its redline increased to 7500 rpm. Volvo also promises a unique engine note from its new racers.
While Volvo and its racing partner Polestar haven't released official output numbers, regulations call for outputs between 620 and 650 horsepower - in any event, a whole lot more than the 311 hp it produces in stock form. (Noble managed to squeeze that much out of the same block, but that required twin turbochargers while this unit remains naturally aspirated.) Scope out the details in the press release below and the photos from the reveal in the gallery above.
