Are you ready for summer!!! For your consideration an awesome triple white 1979 Super Beetle Convertible!!!

Condition: Good overall condition and a running daily Driver.  This car was painted in 2012, and had new interior, including seat covers, dash top and seat belts.  The new top kit including top, headliner and padding was purchased however not installed (included with vehicle). There are some minor items needed, such as a head light beezle, radio, speedometer cable, and interior driver's side door handle trim (See all photo's). There appears to have been a dent on the drivers side front fender however it was repaired.  The engine has been serviced and maintained at Bobs German in Stockton.  The mileage reads 32019 however I can not confirm if this is original miles (See History).

Features: Convertible top

History: We purchased this car from a gentleman who wanted to restore it with his grandson, who turned out not to be interested.  He told us the car was purchased from an elderly neighbor who had the car garaged for years and years.  He believed the miles were original and had the car serviced in Lodi where it was tuned and passed smog (the car always ran).   The car had normal wear and tear but needed refreshed paint, interior and a new top, which is what we set about after purchase. 1979 was the last year of the Convertible Super Beetle and the last one produced was triple white!!! This car is a great little reliable Bug, Happy bidding!

Shipping: We can drive the car a reasonable distance and assist with drop off for shipping

This Or That: 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro vs. 1987 Land Rover Defender [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.

Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki

Tue, 02 Oct 2012

Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.

CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over

Mon, 03 Sep 2012

After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
